Sitting there in your grace How I love you in this place From across the room You say, come hither I say no, I’ll stay right here
Fathers need daughters They make the heart fonder Sometimes, I used to wonder When you would come We waited so long for you
You were my first I used to talk about you as a child How I wanted at least one boy I was chastised for playing with girly toys
Lights dancing in the night Flashing red, blue, and white My chest feeling ever so tight Across the way she strolls Her hair swaying side to side
As the screen fiend Makes you scream From the shadow of its beam Ripping your mind at the seam Shut up and scream As it comes across the way
“Whence have you come my whispering wasp? Lying so blissful on the fence Only pretending pretense To hide the vents of embellishments
Home? What is home you say? Well, when you’ve moved once for nearly every year you’ve lived Home is the roam The roaming, not just from house to house
While you slept The howling wind wanders through the room Roaming for an ear to listen As it hisses its tune, born of doom
Oh, father, my father How I yearn for your presence How I toddle in your steps No longer worthy of your presence I dwelt in your house at dawn
