For a girl born in Brooklyn, New York, Cyndi Lauper found her shooting star that rocketed her to stardom. Her first album was released in 1983 She’s So Unusual. The singer went on to release eleven albums, selling over fifty million records. Lauper has also had many number one singles all around the globe. She is one of the only artists to have won a Grammy Award, a Tony Award, and an Emmy Award. Among her top favorite songs is the one mentioned in the title.
“Change of Heart” was released in 1986 as the second single from Lauper’s second album, True Colors. It charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was written by the singer and songwriter Essra Mohawk. The official music video was filmed in Trafalgar Square in London featuring Lauper and her tour band performing in front of a group of people.
“Come On Home” is a song by Lauper released in 1995 as the third and final single of her greatest hits album Twelve Deadly Cyns… and Then Some. The song was a hit on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. It also charted on the UK Singles Chart.
“Girls Just Want to Have Fun” is a song written in 1979 by Robert Hazard. It was made into a hit in 1983 by Lauper and is featured on her album She’s So Unusual. This single was her breakthrough hit and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song became one of Lauper’s signature songs. She released a new version "Hey Now (Girls Just Want to Have Fun)", as the first single from her 1994 compilation album Twelve Deadly Cyns…and Then Some.
The song “The Goonies “R” Good Enough” was released on the soundtrack to the film “The Goonies.” The recording of this song became a big hit for Lauper and was in the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. They performed the song live on the third-season finale of the reality game show “The Celebrity Apprentice.”
“Money Changes Everything” is a song recorded by the American rock band The Brains. It is the lead single on their eponymous debut album. In 1984 Lauper popularized the song and featured the cover version on her album She’s So Unusual.
“Sisters of Avalon” is a single that is featured on the album of the same name. Recorded by Lauper, this single was released only in Japan. The song is about sisterhood, and it shows the power of women Lauper wanted to show through the song and the album as a whole.
“True Colors” is a song that was written by the American songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. The song is featured on Lauper’s second album of the same name. The song went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
