Me Without You
Some Soundtracks Are Close To Perfect

Introduction
I have a huge music collection and sometimes I pick out CDs at random to play while I work, as well as for my #TabletArtByMikeydred Instagram sequence.
I picked out the soundtrack to the 2002 film "Me Without You" and thought this is seventy minutes of sonic perfection with a little cheese. I did not expect to review this but then thought I should share it with my friends on Vocal and Facebook.
I wouldn't have put this together myself but all but two songs are elsewhere in my collection, and it is playing at the moment. Yes, this is over twenty years old but it is, for me, a pinpoint perfect collection.
These are the songs

This is a bit weird because how do I review this? I mean it is a soundtrack album for a film, but it is one that hits all the right notes for me.
I will make a limited playlist and say something about what the songs mean to me, and I hope you enjoy this.
I could include every song, but they are all on YouTube or you could buy the album either digitally or physically. So here we go, this is ...
Me Without You
Lucy Street - "White Horses"
This opens the album and is a great cover of the Jacke Lee original for a series called "White Horses", which I will also include and the video has the story of Jackie's song. My daughters, Juliet and Kirsty loved this song.
The film used the Jacky "stereo" version in its opening credits and a version by Lucy Street during the end credits.
Charlene - "I've Never Been To Me"
I remember this from an incredibly funny scene in "Black Books" which, unfortunately, I can't find for you, where Fran finds out her dream date is not quite what she expected.
The song is a pure slice of prime cheese, but always makes me smile, I know many of my parents' generation found it deep and meaningful, but you know what I think.
Barbara Dickson - "January, February"
I love Babara's folk performances, but this is just a pleasant love song that hit the charts at some point in my life. I didn't buy it, but I didn't switch the radio off when it came on.
Wreckless Eric - "Whole Wide World"
Wreckless Eric is still performing and making music and I loved the simplicity of this lovelorn song. I remember playing this with my good friend Mick singing at it his girlfriend Nicola's in the seventies. I am happy that I am still closish friends with both of them.
Depeche Mode - "Just Can't Get Enough"
The band pre-dark Goth with Vince Clarke's excellent pop synth lines driving this brilliant song, and yes I bought it when it came out. It still sounds brilliant and is one of the eighteen reasons that make this such a brilliant album.
Tim Buckley - "Strange Feelin'"
This was a song that I thought I didn't know until it came on, with a vague jazz feel. It reminds me of another piece, or maybe that piece just borrowed from this.
Either way, this is seven minutes of amazing sound.
The Clash - "(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais"
This is the song I will close this sampling with. The Clash get two songs on here (the other their first single "White Riot") and this is one of my many Clash favourites.
This line always stuck with me:
"If Adolf Hitler flew in today
They'd send a limousine anyway"
Thank you for listening, and hopefully enjoying.

A great choice in music and review! Some songs I knew and sone not so it was good to read about them.
Definitely a 70's vibe here! I'll have to see if Pam and I can stream the movie; we don't pay for Prime anymore.
Some soundtracks are supremely well-chosen, not necessarily songs I'd have liked on their own, but they go really well with the scenes 😁 The VERY best are the ones that go well with the scenes, go well together, AND they're just good! Now I'm trying to think of an OST that ticks all three boxes 😁
Michelle Williams is a great actress for she was in a teen drama program titled Dawson's Creek. I also heard about her friend as well.
