Pusha T Vs. Drake- A Timeline

More Friction Than Ever

Pusha T versus Drake- Good Music Vs. OVO- these two Mcs have had bad blood for years. Yet their subliminal jabs have never led into a full blown rap beef. Until now…

On May 25, Pusha T dropped Daytona. On the album’s last track, “Infrared,” he takes aim at Drake’s writing credibility, Birdman’s shady business dealings, and Lil Wayne's controversial contract. But these bars quickly angered the 6God, who retaliated on that same day with “Duppy Freestyle.”

There’s no response from Pusha T yet but don’t count the Good Music president out yet. If the history between these two is any indication, a right hook from Pusha T could come at any time. Maybe sooner than later.

Here’s a timeline of their beef if you missed it:

May 24, 2012- Pusha T drops "Exodus 23:1"

During this time in Hip-Hop, Good Music was enjoying a hot run. But staring them in the face from the other side was Young Money/Cash Money records. But there was no evidence of friction until Pusha T dropped "Exodus 23:1" from out of nowhere. He doesn’t namedrop, and if he dissed Drake and Young Money before, they weren’t this direct.

He was the first person to point out that there was something strange about Lil Wayne’s contract. And what’s more, he poked fun at the entire structure and relationship of those within Young Money/Cash Money.

Memorable Bars:

  • “Contract all fucked up/I guess that means you all fucked up/ you signed to one nigga who signed to another nigga/ who signed to three niggas, now that’s bad luck”
  • “That’s why you’ll never be my neighbors/ smiling as you waving but we know you niggas hate us”

October 12, 2016- Pusha T drops “H.G.T.V. freestyle”

At this point, Pusha T is looking around him and he “still ain’t heard an album greater,” he says referencing his 2015 album, King Push: The Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude. There were direct shots at Drake.

Memorable Bars:

  • “It’s too far gone when the realest ain’t real/ I walk amongst the clouds so your ceilings ain’t real/ these niggas Call Of Duty cause their killings ain’t real/ with a questionable pen so the feelin’ ain’t real”

October 23, 2016- Drake drops "Two Birds One Stone" in preparation for More Life.

After Views that year, Drake started cooking up a “playlist” of sorts. Around the time he announced it, Kid Cudi took shots at him and Kanye on twitter over not writing all of their songs.

Drake premiered “Two Birds One Stone” that night on OVO Sound Radio, along with “Sneakin” and “Fake Love.”

Including Kid Cudi, Drake used this “Two Birds” to diss Pusha T.

Memorable Bars:

  • “But really it’s you with all the drug dealer stories that’s gotta stop though/ you made a couple chops and now you think you Chapo/ if you ask me though, you ain’t lining the trunk with kilos/ you baggin’ weed watchin’ Pacino”

May 25, 2018- Pusha T drops Daytona where he disses Drake on "Infrared"

With the release of his album, which Pusha T has called “album of the year,” he punches Drake harder. He even shouts out Rick Ross who had denounced Birdman for leeching off of Lil Wayne.

Memorable Bars:

  • “Niggas beats is bangin’, nigga, ya hooks did it/ the lyric pennin' equal the Trumps winnin’/ the bigger question is how the Russians did it/ it was written like Nas but it came from Quentin”
  • “Oh, now it’s okay to kill baby/ niggas looked at me crazy like I really killed a baby/ salute Ross cause the message was pure/ he see what I see when you see Wayne on tour/ flash without the fire/ another multi-platinum rapper trapped and can’t retire”

May 25, 2018- Drake responds with “Duppy Freestyle”

That evening, Drake was relentless: he dropped “Duppy” on Soundcloud taking aim at both Pusha T and Kanye West. He reveals that he wrote “Father Stretch My Hands” and “30 Hours.” He also addresses his former writer, Quentin Miller.

Who knows what’ll happen next?

Memorable Bars:

  • “So if you rebuke me for working with someone else on a couple of Vs/ what do you really think of the nigga that’s makin’ your beats/ I’ve done things for him that I thought he never would need/ father had to stretch his hands out and get it from me/ I pop style for 30 hours, then let him repeat”
  • “Your brother said it was your cousin, then him, then you/ so you don’t rap what you did, you just rap what you knew/ don’t be ashamed, it’s plenty niggas that do what you do/ there’s no malice in your heart, you’re an approachable dude”
  • “Man, you might’ve sold to college kids for Nikes and Mercedes/ but you act like you sold drugs for Escobar in the 80s/ I had a microphone of yours but then the signature faded/ I think that pretty much resembles what’s been happenin’ lately”
  • "Tell Ye we got an invoice comin' to you/ considerin' that we just sold another 20 for you"
