Your Skin Will Love It: 5 Tricks to Drink More Water

It's easier than you think!

You’ve inevitably heard the old advice to drink 2 litres of water a day. It was first advised in 1945 and we largely haven’t stopped talking about it since. Some say the correct amount depends on a person's weight. Others argue there should be no measures and you should drink at will. Luckily, everyone agrees that water benefits hair and skin. All you have to do is remember to keep hydrated. Today's busy lifestyle can make it hard, but not when you know these tips.

Buy a water bottle

Initially, you'll find sports and hiking models that don't stand out for their elegance. No worries. Shops are full of bottles for daily use too. They come in different materials and designs, one better than the other. Beautiful things are always a pleasure to use.

Having water nearby can also help you remember to drink it. First, there will be no need to tolerate even mild thirst. Second, you'll want to empty the bottle as soon as possible to reduce your bag's weight. Third, it can keep you busy on the bus, on the street, at work, anywhere.

Cut other drinks

It doesn't mean you should give up juice or sparkling water entirely. Still, if you don't have them around, plain water will be the only thing left to quench your thirst. All that matters is easy access. Keep your cooler full or get a filter jug, which removes chlorine and other contaminants from tap water.

Add some fruit

Drinking water regularly can be difficult because of its bland taste. Our tastebuds are used to something specific and pronounced. Therefore, water with natural flavors is twice as good for you. It's loaded with vitamins and helps you set your new hydration habit. Pure water offers better skin benefits, though. If you like, use your favourite fruits and berries just to get started.

Mentioning lemon feels too obvious: it's such a well-known additive. So there's more: orange, lime, peach, kiwi, mint, various berries and even cucumber. The latter is second to lemon in popularity. Cucumber has a very mild flavour, but it adds a fresh feeling to your water and comes with a lot of antioxidant benefits.

Install an app

Both Google Play and the App Store offer many tools for tracking daily water intake. Finding something you like shouldn't be hard. As it's said that "people judge a book by its cover", design is significant to the app. Keep a good one towards the top of your list. It affects your desire to log in and celebrate your wins.

The most important thing is still to check the functionality. Lots of apps share similarities: they calculate your norm based on your weight and remind you to drink water during the day. However, there are many of them that don't adjust your goal on gym days, connect to smartwatches, or collect statistics. Choose the one that best fits your needs.

Find a buddy

Keeping a promise to yourself is easier when someone knows about it and can check on you. Nobody wants to be considered weak-willed. If your friend is up for the challenge, even better. You'll be able to share your experiences and problems, and encourage each other. Actually, they'll likely join, because maintaining water balance is always a good idea.

The last drop

Hydration is something you should remember. ‘Correct’ levels of water intake are largely clichés to forget. Start small and gradually increase the amount based on your body's response. Using the tips above can help you get this norm regularly.
