The House That Learned to Laugh
Walls That Echoed Joy

An abandoned house stood silent for decades until a group of children played hide-and-seek inside. Their laughter bounced through the empty halls, shaking dust from the beams. Slowly, windows stopped rattling, floorboards stopped groaning, and the house warmed. People said it wasn’t haunted…it was ticklish, forever warmed by the laughter that once rebuilt its heart.

The Whispering Bridge
A wooden bridge stretched across a foggy lake and echoed every step with a faint whisper. Locals called it “the talking bridge,” believing it revealed hidden truths. When a shy boy crossed it one morning, the whispers said, Be brave. Startled, he ran back. The next day, it whispered, Try again. Slowly, he crossed each morning. Years later, he returned with others who needed encouragement, letting the bridge whisper to them what they couldn’t say aloud. The bridge never lied. Sometimes, it simply voiced the courage people already carried.

Bartender
On the heels of grief, pain bears down hard. On the heels of death, pain awakens the quiet place between the end of our own life and now. Feeling anything is like seeing a film and in black and white, slow motion, all sound turned off. Just watching. Gritting teeth, awkward smiles and bloody red eyes move around, scanning the others who are feeling something I don't want to feel, but I do. Escapism is all I have ever known. ~
