I Love to Write Horror Stories in the Rain
There is something special about writing a creepy story during the rain.

I have written so many horror stories throughout my life. I started in the 9th grade, and ever since, I have grown obsessed with writing horror stories. But there is something about writing a horror story during the rain. Especially when it comes to the crazy big storms, it feels even more special.
Listening to the rain pound against my bedroom window with such force, it really gets me in the writing mood. It feels like something evil is threatening to break into my house, and whatever it is, I know that it will scare the crap out of me.
And I have to thank one particular stormy day this week for helping me finally gain an idea that has been haunting me in the back of my mind. There is a mini project that I have been wanting to work on for a long time. I feel that all of my ideas haven't been the best, or none of them have really motivated me.
I have a confession to make.
I've been wanting to write a horror novel.
It's been a mini dream of mine for a long time.
I feel that I can pull off a dream like this, but the ideas or motivation never hit me. I have started writing two different horror novels in the past, but none of them ever convinced me to finish them. I actually did finish writing my own horror novel years ago, back when I was in high school.
I was participating in the November writing challenge, and I actually finished the book. Well...I wouldn't exactly call this story a book. Since I finished writing the book in a month, it was a rushed piece of work. And it was kind of dumb. The story and the characters was so dumb, and this was like a whole fantasy and horror seven part book series put into one story.
All the main villains died, and all the main heroes lived. Plus, the main character got into a cringey romance with some supernatural dude, and the romance felt so forced, and both characters had zero chemistry with each other. (I blame the Twilight movies for putting this idea into my head).
I dream of publishing a short horror story, one that will less than 200 pages or barely about to reach the 300-word mark. But in order for this idea to come to light, I needed the perfect horror idea.
I have constantly gone back and forth with the kind of horror novel I want to write. At first, I wanted to work on a book series, but I don't think I'm ready for that kind of strenuous writing. Plus, I'm working towards a particular career, so that would be kind of tough to pull off at the moment.
I thought I had a cool idea with creating a horror story that merely focuses on body horror, but the concept of the story would have been super tough for me to write. I'm pretty bad with writing stories that take place in cities, and I think I need to do a lot of research for a setting like this.
The idea finally hit me, as I was writing a random short horror story this week.
It's a certain phobia that many people are afraid of, and I think it would be the perfect horror story for me as a first-time writer. I'm a major fan of psychological terror combined with body horror, so I think it would be a pretty fun experiment for me to try out.
I'm excited to begin. I can't wait to start writing my book.
And this time, I'm not going to give up!
