Is Gram Chikitsalay as Good as Panchayat? "Honest Review"

Gram Chikitsalay on Prime Video

Look, content king TVF has again brought another piece of content on Amazon Prime Video. If you don't know about TVF, then "Kota Factory," "Aspirants," "Gullak," "Panchayat," "Yeh Meri Family," "TVF Tripling," "Pitchers," and "Cubicles." Oh my God, TVF people have created amazing content after amazing content.

Earlier, Panchayat created a huge buzz on Prime. Later, Dupahiya, another series in the same genre, came from Amazon Prime, although TVF had nothing to do with it. Now, again, a story has come, adding another page to the stories of villages: Gram Chikitsalay.

But is this series from TVF as memorable as Panchayat, or does it make you feel emotional like Gullak? Come, let's talk about it.

Gram Chikitsalay Web Series Review

There are five episodes. Almost all of them are between 35 to 40 minutes. So it won't take much time to finish it.

As soon as I started watching the series, I was getting the full Panchayat vibe. There was the Secretary who had come to the village from the city, and here is Dr. Prabhat Sinha.

The Secretary also had to face problems after coming to the village, and here Dr. Prabhat is also facing problems from the people in the village.

There "Sachivji" got so attached to the village environment that now he can do anything for the people of that village. Here, also, Dr. Prabhat Sinha is the same in the end.

So, after watching Panchayat, was I able to see it from a different perspective? The answer is no.

Only Panchayat was coming to my mind again and again. Only the storyline is a little different here.

There is a "PHC Primary Health Centre" in the village, which is closed because people do not go there because there is already a quack doctor treating people, played by talented Vinay Pathak.

But the problem is that I was not able to develop that Panchayat-like attachment towards these characters.

Yes, the storyline is good. Some comic elements work, and, literally speaking, the first two episodes were very enjoyable to watch for me. But gradually, as politics got added to it, the episodes started getting stretched. And in the end, this series went in some other direction.

As we saw in the trailer, that quack doctor, or should I say unqualified practitioner who is treating people by literally searching on the net. And Prabhay, who has come after getting a proper M.B.B.S degree. Will something be shown between them? No, there is nothing. I would say so much more could have happened if the story had been kept between these two only.

Consider Vinay Pathak's role to be like an extended cameo. In the end, the story was ended by bringing in a mental health issue.

Although in many places this entire story leaves behind some deep thoughts, that if one wants to live in a village, one has to be a part of the village. For any doctor, being a doctor is not a treatment but a service. Lastly, it is mental health.

While all this was happening, I realised that I had watched the entire series. There was no "WOW" moment or any "memorable character". There was not even any dialogue that would become meme material and would be famous among people.

This series is just family-friendly, light-hearted emotion, comedy, and, for the first time, I can say that TVF's content seemed a bit dull to me compared to other content.

But acting wise, what can I say? Their casting is so good that every actor suits their character. There are songs in between that sound good. Listen to them carefully. Very meaningful songs have been written.

Conclusion

So overall it's a good series but not great. You can easily watch it with your family as well. There are some mild abuses once or twice. But that is acceptable in a village environment. But I really admire TVF content. These are the same people who are presenting the village culture in front of crores of people. That too purely and genuinely.
