OH REALLY? Lol: Cardi B Falls Off Chair During Performance And Says "That Was The Government"
Cardi gets added to the list of performers who have taken a spill on stage.
Through the annals of professional performance, dozens of the biggest names on the planet have fallen. From Britney to Beyoncé, they have all dropped to the floor. Wardrobe malfunctions and operational exhaustion have all spelled the near doom for the performer. But what defends them from being doomed is their ability to take a licking and keep on ticking.
Their tenacity to put on a good show and impress their supporters is key to their capability to earn their dollars and maintain their reputations.
For Cardi B, this was no different. She sat in a chair and tumbled over onto the stage. With wit and quickness she claimed “It was the government!”
This is a slight shot at her foe Nicki Minaj who has cozied up to the Trump administration. But this recent fall is only the latest in the long line past, present, and most likely future who have tumbled, are tumbling, and will tumble. Cardi used her professionalism to be thoughtful and humorous amid the faux pas.
Nobody cares if their favorite performer bites the stage. What’s important is if they get up and dust off their shoulders. They’re doing a job that very few people get to engage in for whatever reason. They’re earning their living by making a killing. It’s important only that they rise from the dead like walkers and act like the thing had been an intentional conspiracy like Cardi did.
She brought her bit of funny to the situation which makes it more possible to digest than any other action she could have taken. By bringing her idealism to the situation, she was able to acknowledge the unfortunate situation while also making light of it.
She did it quickly, too. Her speed in making it clear for her audience to get in depth with the people who paid a ticket to see her made her action optimal. Just imagine the alternative. What if she had dwelled on the fact her face planted out of that chair? What if she just took time to talk about how the chairs should be made to not fall down based on her wide posterior.
Instead she employed her gumption to keep the show rolling right along. Never did she hesitate and question her activity. The idea of the lead artist is so shrouded in protection and care that her dancers ran to her side to insinuate that it was part of the act. She wasn’t having it. She proclaimed a short, little joke and continued to push forward with the performance.
This is a credit to Cardi’s character and how she carries herself on and off the stage. She’s probably unfazed by all of this anyway. She’s making millions on this tour and has already performed well on the charts and streaming services. She could’ve made excuses instead she made a joke. That lightning quick wit, sharp as a shard of glass, showed her chance to show that she is more than human. That old saw “I’m only human” often applies to mistakes, miscues, and bad notes. In this instance she was “human” because she transcended the idea that humanity is small, weak, or insignificant. When she said that little bit into the microphone about the State secretly wanting to see her fail, she displayed her tenacity and the opportunity to be truly “human.” It wasn’t the fall but her rise that mattered.
The way she should have been depleted or cussed out her staff for a faulty chair is all irrelevant. With grace and poise, Cardi knew she had to carry herself like a true lady.
