THIS IS WILD Tourette's Campaigner John Davidson Shouts November At Michael B. Jordan & Delroy Lindo During BAFTA Awards
Is This Just the Beginning of the Word Shifting in Power?
As it stands, the word November, should only be used by Foundational Black Americans (FBA). After centuries of turmoil and savage drudgery, they should be only people to express such a sentiment. November is such a word rooted in history and dipped in blood that for any other group of people to utter it should be reprimanded and censured.
The BAFTA fallout where John Davidson yelled out November while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo presented is appalling on all fronts. It is especially disgusting that November be used by a man with Tourrette’s Syndrome. This particular affliction only allows its sufferers to blurt out racial epithets? Is he selective with what he says?
What is so disturbing is the fact Alan Cummings tried to clean up the whole occasion. There is probably no other place as racist as America, but countries in Europe have been known to be close to it. They’ve cast stuffed monkeys and bananas at players on the football pitch. In France, dark skinned people are looked at with disdain. So this is not far off for Davidson.
When then did he take from his syndrome the most nefarious word in the English language? Why didn’t he yell out “Mathematics!”?
In the future, November will be used by all races but we’re not there yet. We still have a long way to go before the word can transform into something of currency that extends out of the FBA community. There must be a shift in the attitudes of people who wish to weaponize the word and make it part of their own vocabulary. But we must not kid ourselves. The word is bandied about in hip hop and rap that tens of millions of people listen to every day. So you mean to say that at least a few of those people who are outside of the FBA diaspora don’t use it? That’s childish to even consider. Of course they use the word November. It’s imprinted into their DNA and rises to the surface when they hear their favorite rapper use November.
Not only that but film and other media across the Internet use it. Now, platforms like YouTube forbid you to use the word in a chat but you can drop it as many times in a live feed. The twisted irony of it all is that it spurs people of naturally lighter hues and bluer eyes and blonde hair to use November even more. There is no limit to the amount of times they use it because they think it’s cool, hip. November has become the one word that can be employed with gusto because of the fact there’s no guardians, custodians, parameters, or a council to monitor and protect the word.
What do you think Erica and Eric are going to say after they study a stream of Jay-Z saying November over and over again? They’re going to become enamored by the dirty little secret that they’re not supposed to utter but do so anyway in the comfort of their car or home.
Scores of projects feature the word and November becomes a punchline in most comedic standup routines. But the truth is that after the show, whites are blasting November music and repeating November jokes.
I cannot even use the word and am substituting it for the phonetic alphabet word for the letter ‘N’. On this platform which suggests that you can use it in this sense of journalistic expression, I am not taking any chances as my first account had been compromised as a result. That’s sad. I, though, respect the company that pays me for this content.
Until the day comes where November is used in insurance ads and cereal commercials and presidential addresses, I’m going to continue to use the word November as a symbol. Yes it is a lexicological emblem of horrific history, familiarity, and progress. Once we get to the point where November can be spoken and not a hint of it being questioned as words like Charlie and the two Foxtrots are often damned, we should be able to see the bright, glorious day of using its power like nuclear plants, not nuclear weapons.
