Stay AWAY from Camden Homes
A builder you should never consider

I had bad thoughts during the construction period. Knowing what I know now, I should have backed out of deal and waiting for another opportunity. So I made an attempt to do an owner-finance with this company and this was the worst mistake ever in life. Let me start with the horrible construction practices.

I would stop by to check on the progress of my new home like any other homeowner with anticipation, and ran upon this. I could not believe that a used bucket of KCF was in the garage as if the construction workers were inviting critters to spend the night. This was just one of many pictures as soda cans and half-eaten tacos were left at the work sight, which was very disappointing. I sent a letter to management and they said they were going to do something about it, but that was never the case.

So after long delays and many setbacks, I finally moved in. However, one of many defects to include the rear elevation façade started to separate from the brick. I started to think about critter encounter (them coming back looking for KFC) would be a quick problem I did not want, so I called the general contractor. He gives me this whopper of a story telling me not to worry because the inside lining had a protector in it, which prevents critters from climbing up to the roof. The installation was a joke and this occurred shortly after the drainage system backing up in the bathroom and flooding almost the entire house.

So I moved in and the kids were getting comfortable in our new home. Good thing my furniture was not there due to Pandemic delays. I heard a sound from the kitchen sink and then the bathroom toilet started to over flow. Within minutes, almost the entire house was flooded with water. Now this is about 9:30 at night, as we were about to get ready for bed. So when the emergency plumber came out, he tried to tell me that I had too much toilet tissue and the drains backed up. I told the plumber that I only been in the house for two weeks and that is certainly not the case.
Now I'm really upset and having second thoughts on this decision. Well shortly after that, I started to loose power on one half of the side of the house when I turned on the microwave. Even at random times, my house and the house next to mine would loose complete power for a 5 minutes as if we were going through rolling power outages. We were having some third-world type of issues. They never found out the source of the power outages, and my thoughts about this purchase was getting the best of me.

They even had the nerve to install the washer hookup, knowing that it was broken. I turned on the washer and seconds later, water was everywhere. This list goes on and the problems continued. I can show you many defects and I will leave you with this one from the garage door opener installation. I was thinking this will never end.

Now they claimed that they forgot to install my garage door opener, which I had to pay an extra $500 for installation. So when they came to install the opener, the sub contractors told me that the crews were all backed up due to them rushing construction in the other nearby homes, and this was the best they could do. I was beyond caring at this point and thought to myself that I could fix this myself.

As the house started to "settle" more defects came and nail-pops in the attic from the roof and things never seemed to get better. This was never a good home from the start. Even when I had financial problems and Camden Homes and I came to an agreement, the family model they had at the beginning of the home purchase was not there. Needless to say, both parties came to an agreement for me to walk away without having a public judgement against me.
Well, that turned out not to be true because I recently found out that a judgment was set against me and I have not received returned communication from Camden Homes regarding this matter. I have my documents and I would assume that they will send me a cease and desist letter from this, but the light needs to be shined on this company for horrible construction and putting out homes of poor quality.
