Happen For Real

I believe everything happens for a reason. It was no accident. It was a month or two ago. We were taking care of my father in law who just had surgery. The phone rang and we let it go to the machine. I was listening as it started to record. The older lady on the other end was crying. I couldn't really understand the machine. I picked up and said "Hello can I help you". She was looking for a number to get her into a home. She said she "was a retired nurse". I felt like I had to help her. I asked her, "what are you looking for?"

She was looking for an agency and had dialed the wrong number. She wanted to just give up altogether .

I had my husband look up the telephone number on his mobile phone, while I tried to calm her down. We found a number and relayed it to her. She called us back and said, “It was out of service.”

We checked the telephone number we had given her, to help verify the telephone number ourselves. Yep! Out of service.

I gave her some of the places I knew. I gave her phone numbers to each of the places. She called back a third time to thank me for helping her. I felt as though I had saved her life. She did mention she was going to just give up. I helped that lady find a place, and I was happy that I was there for her, in her time of need.

My mom was a nurse. She was a very caring person. I definitely got my mom's heart. I care about people. Whenever I have an opportunity to help somebody, it really makes my day.

Being nice comes easy for me. Sometimes, I feel I'm too nice. I also believe I have a heart of gold.

One other time, I had a friend who was having a hard time at work. Everyone around him was getting promoted. I told him, “Show the company that you can take on more responsibilities, by showing, and sharing your ideas during your break, or before work. Prove that you know how to fix a problem at work ."

Sometimes, unfortunately, it doesn't always work. I had a friend that needed help. She needed professional help. She was off her medication, and rambled to the point where I couldn't get word in. If I did get to talk, she talked in between saying, "Yes. Got that," or, “I know that.”.

I just knew we needed to drive her home. It turned out the next day, her parents put her into the hospital to get her the help she needed. In some ways, we helped her by getting her home.

People reach out to me. I don't turn my back on them. Most of all, when my father passed away, I took care of my mom. She was failing after my dad passed. I was there everyday. I drove my mom to the doctor, lunch and cemetery to see dad. When she went to the hospital I sat at her bedside. My brother said I did God's work.

The world is full of people who need help. I live on a farm now . It's amazing how much I can help people. My chicken’s eggs are healthy and delicious. My cows provide us with meat and milk. My garden is very essential.

The goats and bunnies help people, too. I supply food for my family and our community. I also have a special skill: Relieving stress with food and activities. I research topics before I open my mouth. It's a personal life and I won't do anything to make things harder . If I can't fix an issue I will give advice or suggestions.

As I think about these days I feel like that's my purpose, to help people. Life is a precious thing. Sometimes life hands you obstacles and challenges . It only makes you stronger and builds character.
