Chase
A Story Every Day in 2024 12th July 194/366
To pursue or not to pursue? I say, Pursue!
And here I am, chasing, chasing, chasing! And he's looking back at me, wondering where I am, and I'm there, on his heels, grinning and hurtling after him, gaining with each running stride!
My speed mocks his hare-paced fleeing as he leaps and dodges to make his escape! Whoops! Watch that old lady! Don't look at me, mate!
He needs to look where he's going!
Gaining...gaining...gaining...
Careful!!!!
Shame.
There is nothing quite like the look on a person’s face when they run in front of a fast moving bus.

100 words
It is fair to say that I can't remember the original rules for this challenge. Maybe 100 words is too short but the streak to me is too important as a personal goal and time is here, like a jackhammer, taking away every precious minute I have.
100 words will have to do.
And now, I have to add judicious syllable-checking to my poetry challenge entries in order for them to qualify because it would appear that my knowledge of syllables, my intelligence and my ability to count these using my fingers is not enough to avoid questioning. Sigh.
Thanks for stopping by! If you do read this, please do leave a comment as I love to interact with my readers.

Oof! You snuck a lot of story into 100 words. Madterclass!!
Hahahahahahahahahhaha I loveeeeee this story! Also, I admire your dedication to wanting to keep this going. I'd have given up long ago hahahahahha. I saluteeeee you!
100 pulse pounding words, Rachel. The jack rabbit situationally awareness was sadly lacking. The bus is about as forgiving as a jackhammer!
Fantastic build to a dramatic end! Excited for these 100 word micros! They’re super difficult for me so I’m taking notes!📝
It's an excellent drabble, Rachel. As for your poetry, you can always take an easy way out and run it through the AI to check for structure and number of syllables. That's what my students would do.
Good one.
Syllables, words, morphenes--not to be confused with morphine. Yes, when did "readin' and "writin'" become 'rithmetic?
Haha. Oops!
Conjuring a complete, coherent narrative with a shocking conclusion in a mere one hundred words is no mean feat. Deftly done!
Ouch...quite literally. Loved the breakneck speed of this. The short sentences and word choices made it feel kinetic and frantic! Well done.
