Dark Soul
By MJ
Chapter One
Evan was a soul reaper.
He had a special ability to see and collect the souls of the dead. He worked for an organization called the Soul Society, which was responsible for maintaining the balance between the living and the dead. He had a mission to find and reap the souls of those who died in unnatural or violent ways, and send them to the afterlife.
He hated his job.
He hated seeing the pain and suffering of the dead. He hated feeling their emotions and memories. He hated being reminded of his own past and his guilt.
He had been a soul reaper for five years, ever since he died in a car accident that killed his parents and his sister. He had survived the crash, but he had lost his soul. He had become a hollow, a soulless creature that fed on other souls. He had wandered the streets, killing and devouring anyone he encountered.
He had been stopped by a soul reaper named Alice, who had recognized him as her childhood friend. She had spared his life and offered him a chance to redeem himself. She had taken him to the Soul Society and trained him to become a soul reaper. She had given him a new name, a new identity, and a new purpose.
She had been his only friend.
But she was gone now.
She had died six months ago, during a mission in a haunted town. She had been attacked by a powerful ghost, who had ripped her soul apart. Evan had arrived too late to save her. He had only seen her body, lying on the ground, covered in blood.
He remembered their last conversation before she left for the mission.
"Evan, are you sure you don't want to come with me?" Alice asked as she packed her bag.
"No, I'm fine here. You know I don't like ghosts." Evan replied, lying on his bed.
"But this is an important mission. The Soul Society has received reports of a ghost town that is causing disturbances in the nearby area. We need to investigate and clear it out." Alice said.
"I know, I know. But you can handle it. You're one of the best soul reapers in our division. You don't need me." Evan said.
"That's not true. I always need you. You're my partner, my friend, my..." Alice hesitated, then smiled. "My everything."
Evan felt a surge of emotion in his chest. He wanted to say something, but he couldn't find the words.
Alice walked over to him and kissed him softly on the lips.
"I love you, Evan." She whispered.
"I love you too, Alice." He whispered back.
She hugged him tightly, then let go.
"I'll be back soon. Wait for me." She said.
"I will." He said.
She grabbed her bag and left.
He never saw her again.
He swore to avenge her.
He tracked down the ghost who killed Alice.
He followed him for weeks until he finally found him.
He was in Ghost Town.
Ghost Town was an abandoned town that was rumored to be haunted by hundreds of ghosts. It was a place where no one dared to go, not even soul reapers. It was a place where death and madness reigned.
Evan didn't care.
He was determined to kill the ghost who killed Alice.
He entered the town, armed with his scythe and his badge. His scythe was a long metal blade with a curved edge and a wooden handle. His badge was a silver pendant with the symbol of the Soul Society engraved on it. He wore a black cloak that covered his face and body. He looked like death itself.
He walked through the empty streets, looking for signs of life or death. He saw nothing but dust and decay. He heard nothing but silence.
He felt nothing but anger.
He reached the center of the town, where there was a large fountain. He saw something that made his blood boil.
He saw the ghost.
The ghost was sitting on the edge of the fountain, playing with the water. He looked like a young man, with blond hair and blue eyes. He wore a white shirt and jeans. He looked innocent and harmless.
But Evan knew better.
He knew that he was a monster.
He knew that he was Alice's killer.
He knew that he was his target.
He charged at him, raising his scythe.
The ghost looked up and saw him.
He smiled and said:
"Hello, Evan."
Evan stopped in his tracks.
How did he know his name?
Who was he?
What did he want?
Evan felt a chill run down his spine.
He realized that he had walked into a trap.
