Incomplete Love

A Heartfelt Tale of a Poor Boy and a Rich Girl

By Solene HartPublished 6 months ago 2 min read

It was a quiet night. The moonlight draped the world in silver, and the breeze carried a gentle chill. But inside Shehzad’s heart, there was a fire burning—one that no wind could put out. His eyes held an ocean of unspoken pain, yet his lips still carried a faint smile. A smile that belonged to one girl only—the one who painted his world with colors and then left it gray.

Shehzad came from a humble background. His father was a laborer and his mother stitched clothes to make ends meet. Their small home echoed with tired sighs and simple meals. But Shehzad dreamed big. He would spend hours in the local library, lost in books that transported him to worlds far beyond his own.

And then came Zara.

Zara was the daughter of a wealthy businessman—privileged, elegant, and effortlessly graceful. She and Shehzad were classmates in college, though their lives couldn’t be more different. One came in a chauffeur-driven car, the other walked miles. But life has its own mysterious ways of bringing opposites together.

It started with casual greetings, then shared study sessions. Zara was drawn to Shehzad’s quiet strength and his deep thoughts. Shehzad, on the other hand, couldn’t believe that someone like her would want to sit beside him, laugh with him, and treat him like an equal.

Friendship blossomed into something more. There were no grand declarations, just silent glances and unspoken feelings. They didn’t need words—each moment together said enough. But the world outside their little bubble wasn’t so kind.

Zara’s parents soon found out. They were furious. "A laborer’s son is not worthy of our daughter," her father had declared coldly. Zara cried, pleaded, begged—but her mother only said one thing: “Love is not enough to build a life.”

Zara began to pull away.

Shehzad noticed the change. The calls stopped. The library sessions ended. One evening, he finally asked her, “Do you still love me?”

Tears welled up in Zara’s eyes. She whispered, “I will love you forever, Shehzad... but I can’t walk this path with you.”

That moment broke something inside him. Love remained, but the hope of a shared future faded. He didn’t protest. He didn’t curse his fate. He just held her hand one last time and said, “I just want you to be happy. That’s all that matters.”

Zara walked away, and Shehzad returned to his life—a life that now felt more hollow than ever.

Years passed. Shehzad became a renowned writer. His novels touched hearts across the country. And in every book he wrote, there was always one name—Zara. His bestselling novel was called “Incomplete Love.” When asked about the inspiration behind it, Shehzad would only smile and say, “She was the most beautiful chapter of my unfinished story.”

Zara, now married into an influential family, came across his book one day. As she read through the pages, tears streamed down her face. She realized he had never stopped loving her. Every word was a reflection of what they had shared, of what they could have been.

But they never met again.

Maybe if they had, the story would have found its ending. But maybe, just maybe, some stories are meant to stay incomplete. That’s what makes them unforgettable. That’s what keeps them alive—forever etched in memory, untouched by time.

And in the end, all that remained was this:

“She left, but her essence lived in every word I wrote. Perhaps that’s what true love is—remaining whole, even in pieces"
