I recently obtained superpowers. I am stronger, faster, and more agile than before. Plus I can fly. As cliche as it may sound, I got these powers after being exposed to radiation during a science experiment that went wrong. I know, it’s a very lame and unoriginal origin story, but it is mine.

To be honest, originally I had thought about using my powers for evil. Using them to enrich myself and to exact revenge upon those who have wronged me. And I have been wronged in so many ways by so many: coworkers, bosses, people I thought were friends, and others.

Anyone who obtains powers like mine has thoughts of using them for selfish reasons. Those who say they wouldn’t are either lying, or are wrong. Trust me, if you had the chance to be unstoppable, you would consider evil. You may not take the chance, but you’d at least consider it for a moment.

Ultimately, I quickly rejected this idea. I decided that the best way to get my revenge is to be better than them. Even if they’d never know it because of my secret identity, I would prove myself better than them all by helping others. Also by showing restraint. Even though I could destroy them, I will grant them mercy and not do so.

And honestly, it has worked great. I have saved so many lives and feel accomplished. I finally found my life’s purpose and mission.

And as a bonus, I have heard many of my enemies praising the new hero in town. Every time I hear them do that I take joy in the fact that even though they don’t know it, they are praising me.

So even though I had the chance to choose evil, I don’t regret choosing good.
