FC26 Preseason Rewards Released! TOTW5 & MAX87 Hero Pack Arrive Tomorrow
EA accelerates content updates — TOTW5 stars revealed, Hero Pack rating cap raised, and a free LB Evolution offers key upgrades for budget squads.

As the new week begins, EA continues to ramp up the pace in FC26, bringing a wave of updates centered on SBCs, Evolutions, and Hero Packs. Although there’s no major promo event this time, the rhythm is clearly faster. From the newly launched “Pick 1 of 2” SBC to the upcoming TOTW5 lineup and the upgraded MAX87 Hero Pack, everything points toward EA’s intention to keep players active early in the cycle.
SBC Update: Two Solid Options for Early Squad Building
Today’s new SBC comes in the form of a “Pick 1 of 2” challenge, costing around 24K FC 26 coins in total. Players can choose between Aguerd, the Marseille center-back, or Gueye, the Villarreal midfielder.
Aguerd offers balanced defensive stats — 78 pace, 86 defense, and 85 physical — along with a left foot, 1.90m frame, and key traits like “Block.” For those running Ligue 1 squads or needing a left-footed CB, he’s a solid short-term option. Gueye, meanwhile, is a tall box-to-box midfielder (1.89m, 3★/3★), with decent all-around stats but limited flair. Unless you specifically need their chemistry links, both cards are optional rather than essential.
Grind and Tasks: Steady Gains for Smart Players
EA has also added an 83+ x2 Upgrade Pack and the Rating 56 Challenge 2. The upgrade pack remains a must-do for regular grinders — an efficient way to stack fodder for future SBCs. The challenge itself is low effort and offers a small pack reward.
Additionally, Preseason Rewards from FC25 have now been distributed. While most rewards are standard gold packs with low pull rates, it’s still a nice bonus for returning players.
Free LB Evolution: Boosting Budget Defenders
One of the biggest highlights today is the free Left-Back Evolution, available for players rated 82 or below. This evolution doesn’t raise overall rating but enhances key defensive and crossing attributes — including +3 Interceptions, +3 Defensive Awareness, +4 Crossing, and +3 Curve — and grants the Full Back playstyle.
Ferland Mendy is the clear favorite for this evolution. Despite his modest rating, his base stats and chemistry options make him one of the best-performing LBs in the game. Udogie from the Premier League is another top pick, especially effective alongside van de Ven for chemistry links. Alternatives like Robinson or Dunn (now in PSG’s women’s squad) can also fit well depending on your setup.
Leaked Content: TOTW5 and New Player Reveals
Reliable leakers have shared details of the upcoming TOTW5 squad, set to release tomorrow. Headlining players include Mohamed Salah, Rodrygo, Gakpo, Mahrez, Ruben Neves, and Aubameyang — a strong lineup packed with fan favorites. Salah and Rodrygo, in particular, are expected to be the top-tier cards of the week, likely driving both market movement and gameplay demand.
Meanwhile, the first leak from the Ring Vol.2 promo features Dominik Szoboszlai, with stats still underprediction. Considering his real-life form and EA’s tendency to favor dynamic midfielders, his official release could become one of the most desirable cards of the update.
MAX 87 Hero Pack: More Potential, Same Risk
Tomorrow’s major addition is the MAX87 Hero Pack, raising the overall cap from 86 to 87. This subtle change expands the prize pool significantly, introducing high-value heroes such as Jaap Stam, Yaya Toure, Ze Roberto, and Hamsik. Each of these cards can exceed the million-coin mark, but as always, the odds remain slim. Most players will still end up pulling low-rated 85–86 heroes worth only a fraction of that.
For casual or budget players, the Hero Pack remains a high-risk gamble. Those with spare fodder may try their luck, but expecting consistent returns is unrealistic.
Final Thoughts: Faster Updates, Smarter Choices
This week’s FC26 update shows EA’s clear push toward a faster content cycle. The new SBCs offer practical value, the free Evolution strengthens budget teams, and TOTW5 injects fresh excitement into the market. The upgraded Hero Pack adds allure, but it’s still more of a lottery than a strategy.
In this accelerated environment, the smartest players will focus on steady growth — completing free and efficient objectives, grinding upgrade packs, and resisting unnecessary risks. Big updates may come and go, but careful planning remains the ultimate key to success.
