Was Tarkov’s Full Release Rushed?
(Intro) Tarkov has existed for a long time. Over eight years' worth of work, adding content to the game with a final dash towards the end to make it what BSG has called, feature complete. And while most of us are glad we got to see the game get to the end, it also had me thinking about the circumstances that led to this point. We know BSG wanted to add more; be ambitious and really try to put Tarkov in a place where it can feel like a forever game. But even after all this time, does Tarkov feel like a rushed game, at least the launch of 1.0? I know it’s a crazy question to even ask considering how long it’s been. But think about it for a moment; at the very least the final stretch felt like it was coming together rather quickly. Obviously, they can’t keep working on the game forever; they don’t have infinite money and even if they did, they most likely want to work on something different. But plans must’ve changed internally multiple times over even just the last year for it to have played out the way it ultimately did. What drove them to release 1.0 when they did? How has it panned out in general? And can we technically call the release of it, rushed?

The Commitment Problem in Modern Chess Modern chess operates under a fractured commitment model that no longer aligns with how players think, how turns function in most games, or how chess itself is actually played across physical and digital formats. At the heart of the problem is that chess treats physical contact with a piece as binding commitment while simultaneously relying on a separate explicit action to end a player’s turn. This creates a logical contradiction: a move becomes final before the turn is over. In most turn-based games, interaction with game components is provisional until the player explicitly signals the end of their turn. Chess is an anomaly in this respect, and the inconsistency becomes increasingly visible in modern play.

What is Tarkov Still Missing?
(Intro) Even though we are over two months into the full release of Tarkov, the game isn’t one hundred percent in the eyes of BSG. There is still plenty they want to add, change and improve upon which for a game that was and still technically is in development, it’s an interesting question to ask. In their eyes, the main story was the final piece missing from Tarkov to officially stamp it as 1.0. But even with that past us now, there is plenty that can be done to the game that will only improve it going forward and make existing players happy. Which had me thinking recently, now that the main meat of the game has been added, where else can BSG improve Tarkov to just make it a more enjoyable experience. What else can be added or changed in the game that will be seen as a net positive for a majority of the player base?
