Anime With The Most Shocking Ending

Only 11 more days of the 30-day anime challenge that has taken me way longer than 30 days. This is the day that I have been looking forward to writing the most.

Here is day 18, in case you missed it.

The purpose of these challenges is to post a picture, but I, being the extra person I am, will write a blog about each topic.

This differs from what I am used to blogging, which excites me to test my creativity and go back to find the answers to these writing prompts.

Day 19 Anime with the most shocking ending

I have a useless talent for being able to guess the ending of any show or movie. I annoy people by spoiling whatever we watch 15 minutes in. When a show or movie can shock me with the ending, I instantly love it. I think not being able to guess the ending shows great writing and creativity. That’s one of the reasons I love anime so much. The worlds have unlimited possibilities; even if I think I know how the show will end,d they can completely flip the script for fun, kill the main character, or end the whole world.

**Spoiler Warning** I am talking about the endings of animes, of course, there are going to be spoilers ahead. I’d recommend skipping my thoughts on the shows you haven’t watched yet and watching them, then coming back. I would recommend watching all of the anime I am about to talk about.

The anime I put on this list are completed, and the shock factor is in the last episode. There have been tons of plot twists in great name. However, I just wanted to pick ones with a shocking ending.

With all of that being said, let’s get into anime with the most shocking endings.

True Beauty

This is a super shallow and entertaining show. A typical nerdy girl turns pretty and then gets stuck in a love triangle. I loved the romance and banter between the main girl, Jugyeong, and the guy on the left of the picture,e Suho. They had similar interests, shared their past traumas, and he loved her without the makeup. 12 episodes of the show set up their relationship to work out. Then episode 13 hit. Suho has to leave for his family business, and she is separated from him for years. Then, one night runs into Seojun, the guy on the right. I hated his character; he didn’t even recognize her without being all dolled up. In the last 2 minutes, they end up confessing to each other and kissing. What the actual heck? It's safe to say I didn’t see that coming from a mile away.

Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction

This show had one of the biggest plot twists ever. I had no idea how they were going to end this wild story, but they somehow came up with an amazing twist. Time travel is a cheap way to reverse all of the trauma caused throughout the show, and in this case, it was the perfect explanation.

Devil Man Crybaby

This show went from my mouth open to my jaw on the floor. Maybe they would reverse the damages, and murders throughout the show. Instead, they ended the world. The fact that his friend was satan the whole time, playing with him like a puppet, blew my mind. I felt uneasy about his character throughout the show but the ending wasn’t at all what I was expecting.

Charlotte

This anime is the definition of never letting them know your next move. 6 episodes in and I thought it was just a quirky anime about kids with powers and then the second half of the show completely through me for a loop. Time travel, memories erased, secret powers, and then saving all the children with powers in the world was not what I was expecting. I am so glad this anime got a happy ending because for a while I thought this would have the most depressing ending.

The Future Diary

This is another anime that completely threw me for a loop. I thought I knew exactly what was going to happen and I couldn’t have been further from the truth. Some people hated how this anime ended but I thought it was the perfect ending. This was another one that used time travel, however it used it in a way I would have never guessed.

The Great Pretender

I loved this anime. It had an incredible story, amazing art, and one of the best plot twist endings. In heist stories they always make you believe the story is heading one way and then flip the script to show you their plan all along. This plan was one I couldn’t have guessed in a million years.

Tokyo magnitude 8.0

Talk about the craziest plot twist in anime history!! My jaw was on the floor when I found out the little brother was dead for half the anime and his spirit was just guiding his sister home. I haven’t found an anime with a bigger plot twist ending than this one.

I hope I didn’t spoil any anime for you. If you haven’t seen any of these anime I highly recommend all of them.
