Michael Mealor and Hunter King: No news but is it good?

It's been two months since Michael Mealor and Hunter King reprised their roles of Kyle Abbott and Summer Newman Abbott on The Young and the Restless. The popular duo was wed off-screen in Milan and later showed up in Tuscany for the October nuptials of Victoria Newman Locke (Amelia Heinle) and Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi). Y&R was vague with details but many fans were believing that Skyle would have a lavish onscreen wedding that would send the off into the sunset. Instead all the focus was on Vicki and Locke's big day.

Since the duo have been away a lot has happened in Genoa City.Summer's parents Nick Newman (Josh Morrow) and Phyllis Summers Newman (Michelle Stafford) have split up and it's possible that Kyle's dad Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) might be waiting in the wings for his son's mother in law. A number of fans are still saying they are holding out hope that Skyle will eventually make their way back to Genoa City with a baby in tow.

The Young and the Restless: Loyal fans hold out hope

Spoilers implied the duo might have been returning to The Young and the Restless for an extended period of time and fans were delighted. Unfortunately Skyle only showed up for Victoria's wedding to Ashland. These days the duo is not being mentioned on-creen but fans are hoping they might return.

There is also silence on Mealor and King's social media accounts and no reports of either moving on to another job. King signed on to an ABC series titled Prospect in 2020 but it was placed on hold due to COVID and there has not been any news about if or when the program will air.

The last interview with King and Mealor was with Soap Opera Network in October where both said they were pursuing other ventures. Mealor admitted that he did not have anything lined up but said he wanted his next job to be fun and not out of a need to work. King replied that she had several things going but as of this writing there has been no announcement related to her taking on any new roles.

Skyle fans will neverf say never

Both actors praised their fans and sounded grateful for their experience on The Young and the Restless. It's clear they don't want any bad blood which might close a door if either or both desired to return to the CBS soap. Soap Opera Network summed up the actions of the actors with the following: Forgoing a steady income and successful career as an actor on a daytime drama series in order to pursue what’s next without being tied to what was.

Hunter and Michael did not desire their schedule with The Young and the Restless to conflict with any new prospects which is all well and good. At this particular time, however, neither of them has moved on to other roles. Mealot admits in the interview that he did no have a lot of money saved so if he does not get a job soon his funds will run out. If new opportunities do not present themselves the two fan favorites might find themselves gravitating back to daytime for the very reason that Mealor said he did not want to take a new job, because they need the money.

Celebrities live sifestyles that ar far beyond most of their viewers and it takes acertain dollar amount to maintain what they have obtained. Hopefully both actors will be able to pursue their dreams and find the roles that they truly desire. Their loyal fans from The Young and the Restless would gladlywelcome them back if the powers that be will have them.
