Ozark Season 4: What can we expect?

Plus, season 3 re-cap

So, January 21st 2022 is the day all Ozark fans have been waiting for. Ozark season 4- Part 1 will return to out Netflix screens for the final season.

Watch the new Teaser Trailer for Season 4 here:

It comes as no surprise to true fans of the hit Netflix show, that Wendy has taken control through much of the final 2 seasons, after Marty lost the will or even ability to step up to the 'game' he helped create.

In the final moments of season 3 we were left in shock as a favourite antagonist amongst fans was suddenly killed off. Navarro's lawyer Helen. Arriving by private jet with Wendy and Marty, Helen appears nervous upon entering Navarro's complex but not so suspicious. Before fans had time to decide which one of them (if not all of them) was about to get hurt, one of Navarro's men shoots Helen point blank in the head. Navarro, seemingly happy about the decision he had been cooking up, leans in for a big 'family' hug with the shocked couple. Marty more noticeably frozen cold but Wendy cannot hide that smirk on her face.

It seems the brutal wife has one less problem to deal with as she seems to have no problem eliminating people she doesn't like or trust. ( The ordered hit on Cade).

So 3 seasons later, plans for Australia buried, a racketeering casino boat and a divorce being disguised by a rather thin voile sheet...what can we expect going in to season 4?

The burning questions that seem to be being asked by fans all over the internet are: Will Ruth ever forgive Martyr and Wendy after Ben's death? Is their close relationship with Navarro actually going to help them? What can we expect from the ever menacing Darlene? And will the manipulative couple ever be able to actually go legit?

That answer to the last question seems unlikely.

Very little has actually been given away by the shows writers or producers, to give us any inside looks into what season 4 may bring. However, the teaser trailer that was released on November 17th, seems to represent all of the damage the Byrdes have caused in the first 3 seasons. The trauma and anguish of the show is rewound and we witness some of the events and deaths that occurred in the first 3 seasons.

The opening speech of the trailer explains the 'snowball' effect that we have come to witness many times in Ozark:

Human beings make decisions and commit acts, that makes things happen, creates a snowball effect that causes other people to make decisions, the cycle continues, the snowball keeps rolling...

While this speech continues, we see a montage of death and events that occurred in the first 3 seasons. From the 'suicide' from the story building, to the church foundations being burned, before the trailer finally calms to the messed up family of 4, sitting silently in their car as Marty drives them along a country road.

While the trailer doesn't give much away in terms of events happening in season 4, it is a clear sign that season 4 may just be the most brutal and stressful season yet and leaves fans on the edge of their seats, questioning what will happen next.

While not giving much away, Netflix and Jason Bateman himself, have been teasing us since September with clips, pictures and hints about what we can expect in the new season. On September 25th, Bateman revealed a sneak peek of Ozark Season 4- part 1, during Netflix's TUDUM festival. The short clip shows the Byrdes at a party gathering of Navarro's: filled with guests, cake and even a zebra, washing blood from their faces in a sink. Seemingly we can only speculate that the blood and what appears to brains in Wendy's hair, is those of the now deceased lawyer: Helen. Clearly shocked and distraught, it seems that micro expression smirk that appeared on Wendy's face at the end of season 3 has disappeared, as she askes Marty to help her clean some of the brains out of her hair.

It seems fans are in for a whirlwind of further manipulation, death and games in season 4. But, who will come out on top and more importantly, who will come out alive?

Navarro? The Byrdes? Or, neither of them?

It seems only time will tell, but with less than 2 months to go, I think the feeling is mutual amongst fans...Christmas is not the anticipated event happening in the next couple of months...It's the premier of the much awaited Ozark- Season 4.
