History

In a small town in Poland lived a poor girl.

His name was Manya Sklodu Viska.

She used to live by studying tuition.

At the age of 19, she taught a ten-year-old girl from a rich family.

The girl's elder brother became interested in her. She was also attracted to him, so they both decided to get married.

When the boy's mother came to know about the matter, she became upset. He grabbed Manya by the ear and brought her to the porch. He called and gathered all the servants and shouted, Look!

This girl only has one frock to wear. Whose shoes have holes in their soles? And who is lucky enough to have a good meal only once in 24 hours, and that too from our house?

This girl wants to be my son's wife.

It is cherishing the desire to be called my daughter-in-law. All the servants laughed and the lady closed the door and went inside. Manya felt as if someone had dumped a bucket of acid on her. She was seized with a deep sense of humiliation. And she decided, standing on that porch, that she would earn so much honor, so much fame in her life, that the whole of Poland would be known by her name.

It was the year 1891. She came to Paris from Poland. He entered university and began studying physics.

She used to study 20 hours a day. She didn't have much money, she used to live on what she had saved. She used to spend only one shilling (i.e. a few pennies) a day. Her room did not have electricity, gas or even a ring of coals. She used to spend the nights of snowy seasons shivering. When the cold became unbearable, she would take off all her clothes. She used to lay half on the bed, and half lay on top of herself. Even if there was no sustenance, she would drop all her books and even her chair on herself.

For five whole years, he ate nothing but dry pieces of double bread and butter.

She used to faint while sitting on the bed, but when she regained consciousness, she consoled herself by calling her unconsciousness sleep.

She fainted in class one day, the doctor after examining her said, you need a glass of milk instead of medicine.

She married a scientist named Pirie while still at the university.

That scientist was also in a similar situation.

At the time of marriage, the total assets of both were two cycles. It was during this period of poverty that she reached her Ph.D.

Manya had chosen a very interesting topic for her Ph.D.

She decided she would tell the world why uranium emits light. It was a difficult but impossible task. But she overcame it.

During the experiments, he discovered an element, which emits two million times more light than uranium. And its rays pass through everything in the world, wood, stone, copper, and iron, he named it radium.

It was a huge explosion in the world of science.

People asked for proof of radium, Manya and Pyri took a dilapidated shelter, with an intact roof and no floor.

And they continued to melt iron on these premises for four years.

He alone melted 8 tons of iron. and obtained from it radium equal to a pea.

These four years these people suffered summer or winter on their bodies.

The toxic fumes from the furnace tore holes in Manya's lungs. But she persevered, and she didn't give up.

Even the whole of science bowed at his feet.

This radium brought the message of life to millions of cancer patients.

What we call radiation therapy today was Mania's invention.

If that girl hadn't smelted iron for four years, all of Kesner's patients would be dead today.

This girl was the only scientist in the world who received the Nobel Prize twice in her life.

30 films and hundreds of books were written about his life.

And due to this science students today, when the name of Poland is mentioned, take off their hats and salute this country.

When the world offered Madame Curie billions of dollars for this invention, what did she say?

he said. I will only give this discovery to this company, which will treat an elderly woman in Poland for free.

Yes! The rich Polish woman who once kicked Currie out by the ear. The woman was suffering from cancer and she was on her deathbed at that time.
