I keep touching the hot stove top. It keeps singeing my hand and I don’t know how to make the pain stop. Maybe if I touch it on the hottest part, the pain will stop. OUCH! What the hell. Why does it keep hurting me, burning me? And why, am I blistering. I know, let me increase the fire and touch it again. If it burns off the blisters, then the pain will stop. One of these times it has to stop. I’ll just keep changing it up a little here and a little there, until it does.
What would you say to that? To that person? Would you something like, “you’re stupid!” Or maybe you would tell them, “You’re insane!” After all, the supposed quote on the definition is insanity being the constant repetition of a thing, expecting a different result?
Well, that is a good thing in science, but we aren’t talking about experimentation of a hypothesis in order to prove fact. Scientifically speaking, I am burned, probably severely.
Would you tell me to stop? Tell me to try something new, like not putting my had to the fire. Maybe you’d suggest that I put ointment on it and be proactive about healing it.
But no, you just yell at me, okay scream, at me that I am a wack job, a masochist. Well guess what?
You are the insane and masochist one in the room, not I.
All day long we put on the television and are bombarded with one side or another of a political war for power. Make no mistake it’s for their power, not yours. You are a peon. We all are. The only significance we have, is for a vote, to keep them in their jobs and on their pedestals.
Bitch and moan, bitch and moan, we all complain about the other side, after all, my side is better than your side. My side knows better how to make us happier and wealthier. Or my side know what’s best for nature, the environment, society, young people, old people, the economy, taxes, personal identity, child birthing or not. Right?
It’s okay, you can say yes. You know it’s true and, that it’s how you actually feel.
Here’s the thing, both sides are total garbage. Complete and utter garbage. no exceptions. But guess what, that is entirely, YOUR fault. I will use you for this article, but don’t think for one second that I don’t include me, because, I absolutely do.
The shit show is our own doing. On BOTH sides. Some of you, are now getting upset. Good. This is for you too.
We have a wonderful system where we can elect our own representation in our government. Thank your stars, because many millions of people do not. We have the awesome ability to make changes and adjustments to our laws, our income, our lives, and our government and so much more. And yet, we like the pain of the fire. Even worse, we choose direct flame over indirect in many instances. The hottest part of the flame, burns us more severely, and we seem to like it, or not care. Or we are might even be presented with several ways to inflict on ourselves, these third degree burns, in which case we make the best, worst choices.
Case in point. I am only going to discuss the presidency for this article, because let’s face it, I will only live so long, and the rest would take a lifetime or more to unravel. Not my lot in this life. I digress off topic.
Every four years, we have the serious responsibility of electing one man or woman to be the face of our country. Repeat after me, “THE FACE OF THE COUNTRY AND WHO WE ARE AS A PEOPLE”. That my dear is what the president exemplifies. Us. Yes that is correct. Us, all of us. So now look at what you elected. Is he an example of you. Before you say no, think again.
He absolutely does and is an example of us. A man with no moral compass, who disrespects women, a convicted man, a man who only cares about money and those people or entities that increase his wealth, a man who protects the degenerate, a man of no character, honor or integrity. We elect what we identify with. That is a photograph of our nation. Truth. If you want to argue that, go ahead, but in the end, it will still be true. Each and every state and politician can be described as the same way. Every one of them, left and right. These are two sides of the same coin.
You elected them, it is entirely your fault. Yes, I get that the left, did not come out to vote for him. But before you pat yourselves on the back, your side, did not see fit to put up a viable candidate with qualities the majority of the nation could feel good about. That is YOUR fault. He is your president. Yes that is right. When you say he isn’t you are the one who sounds like a two year old, refusing to accept they are not a super hero.
The right came out to vote for the current leader of the United States, though. Why is that? Because we are a nation of masochists, thats why. We are all insane. What we do each election cycle, is not vote for the best man or woman, no, we vote for the best worst case scenario. Both choices are equally bad, so we pick one that is a bad better than the other one. What the heck is wrong with us?
This election was an insane asylum of people reeling from being lied to for four years on the mental capacity of the, then, current president, and decided to come out for the known insanity instead of the undiagnosed one in his apprentice (pun intended). At least we all knew how asinine the current president was. We were insane to elect him the first time to begin with, but we gravitate to the familiar.
Now I am sure, the right, is chomping at the bit to come at me, on the virtues of just making sure our side stayed on top, but that should not be the focus of our drive to put a man or woman at the helm.
I am a registered republican. Yes. But I did not vote for this man, either time. I knew his past and who he was as a person. I grew up with his name in the news all the time, in New York. He was not the man for the job. Who I did vote for is no one’s business, but I voted for the person with the best integrity and character of the idiots they put up for the challenge. It is always a no win situation. Always.
What I am trying to get at is this. We have to do better. We have to start looking at the character of a person, the moral compass, the integrity of the person. Make no mistake. they all lie, but there is a point where the lies outweigh the truth in a person, and we just ignore it. We vote for the dazzle on the screen, the promises that tickle our ears, the stance we have on one thing or another, that align with our own, and then we make another bad decision and elect the best of the worst.
Let’s talk about changing it. How do we do that?
First, I will say, it will be an uphill battle all the way. The ones in power do not and will not give up their cash cow easily, and that is how they see the nation, their jobs, and the sycophants that elect them. They will lie and talk themselves up and bombard you with negatives of the other side, all the way to their fat bank accounts.
If we don’t stop allowing this two parties to railroad us, we get what we deserve.
The party system needs to end. That essentially gives us no choice. We get two candidates and have to select one or the other. Any other parties or runners for office are kept out of the running and not given any air time to speak. Ever.
Primaries only allow us to vote for the candidate that will head our own party. They allow no one else to vote. That is disenfranchising the rest of the nation who chooses another party, or none at all. Why don’t they get a say in who will represent the two sides?
During that whole process, we are clubbed with minuscule issues that keep us pitted against each other’s throats. Taxes, social security, gender issue, abortion, are all good and important issues, but you kid yourselves if you think you will find your entire Christmas wish list under the tree. You wont. You do have to decide who best matches what you believe, but know that whatever they are saying to you is mostly lies to get elected. So how do you know, if you can trust the forked tongues vying for power? You look at their entire record of employment in office or private careers and comb it with a fine tooth. You vet the interviewee, you know, like you were vetted for your job. You check the work history and references. The proof is in the pudding.
Look at their social history, their voting on issues, history, their character and how they treat others, women, men, children and elderly and so on. Vote for the best, best person, not the best of the worst. Stop voting your religion or lack of religion. Vote for the one who believes that we should have that freedom of whatever faith we choose. And please understand how the government works.
When we are pitted against each other on issues like life, sexuality, and so on, know that none of those things are outrightly determined by the president. He is a figurehead. Our government was designed with the three branches for a reason, so not one part would have autonomy over another. Yes, boys and girls, maybe you should have paid attention in history and civics class, and maybe you might stress its importance to your children, instead of who the Kardashian women are screwing this week.
Change is slow, a process. The process has to begin with us, at the local levels. I don’t care who is in power as the figure head. I care that the majority of the nation wants the best person for the job. If it is a democrat, so be it. If it is a republican, so be it. If it is a third, fourth, tenth party, so be it. The persons who have the nations best interest, who are upstanding, with a good track record for making decisions to that effect, should be the ones in the running.
I laugh when fellow Christians, defend this man. He is the farthest thing from the person we should want to emulate. He is amoral and anything but Christlike, yet my faith praised his being a Christian. Satan can say he is a Christina too. He is the father of lies. But can he prove he is? No. His life will not ever show him as one. You see, we can call ourselves anything we want, but does the way we live or have lived prove it.
I am a unicorn. I am because I say so. But if I can’t prove it, show a horn, that I have always had the horn and never used it for bad, then I am not a unicorn. I am just a horse with no name.
Change. Ooh, such a scary word. But if we don’t embrace it and make it ours, then we will just keep getting burned. The one to blame then is not the other party. It is the person in the mirror, who did nothing.
Change comes by someone taking a risk for what is important. Do you think your points are important, for you, our people, our nation? Then make change. Good people need to get involved, run for office and take the time to be a voice for integrity. If good people don’t, we get choices like we have been getting for decades.
Then, if you make it to an office in government, live up to your claims, without excuses. As for the rest of us, a serious discussion needs to be had over getting rid of the two party system of racketeering, of office seats with no term limits, of lobbying and lobbyists. It has to stop, These things are only benefiting the ones drunk on their own power, and the entities that throw the money at them to buy sympathetic ruling and laws.
We need change. Truly. I don’t give a flip, if a democrat, republican, independent, libertarian, or unicorn, runs for office. I care that they are consistent in their work, and that they are honest, and that they know it is important, for them to continue to represent us, that they do what they promise. To think that I will get everything I want is a juvenile belief. But wanting the person, who sits on a citizen’s paid for office and chair, to get the job done well, with integrity and honor, accepting responsibility, for failures and working to correct them. That is not naive or juvenile. It is a duty.
We need change. Do not even try to complain about this sinking ship, if you don’t help shovel the water out of the life raft. If we want change, we need to start by being the change, not just slamming one another for the other side’s failures. Nanny nanny boo boo, to you, is not going to help us fix us. Accepting status quo won’t either.
Look into a mirror. See that person? If that person does not think it’s worth his or her time to fix the nation we love, well then, you in that mirror are not worth that time, because guess what? You are that nation. And let me tell you, you are worth that time.
Get off your rear and make change happen. Be the change you want to see. And if you have integrity, honor, and respect for your countrymen, then for peat’s sake, run for freaking office. We are all tired of the clowns, running the circus and we want, more importantly, we need someone we can be proud of.
