Clyde E. Dawkins’ accomplishment on Vocal

We will start this interview with nice words from Clyde E. Dawkins, “The timing of this interview is fitting. This week marks two years since I joined Vocal, and I've enjoyed every bit of it. I love writing stories on this site, and I love writing pieces with a message, bringing a bit of humor to them, and also using my imagination. I still have two goals I want to achieve on Vocal: winning a challenge and having one of my fiction stories as a Top Story. Even so, I love Vocal and I will definitely continue to contribute to this wonderful site. Thank you so much for your feedback on them. You're absolutely amazing!”

Mariann(New York):Hi Clyde, I was wondering can I interview you for my Vocal Interview Blog ? You are a great writer on vocal 🥳

Clyde (California):I got your interview with Handsomelouiithepoet! It was amazing!! I'm very excited for our interview today!

Mariann:Where are you from?

Clyde: I was born in Amory, Mississippi, but my parents and I moved to Anaheim, California when I was 3 years old. I currently reside in Buena Park, which is west of Anaheim.

Mariann:When did you realize you wanted to write?

Clyde: Creative writing wasn't always a deep interest in my school years, but when I saw fan fiction online, I decided to try writing some of that. I didn't become really serious in writing, to be honest, until I learned about Vocal thanks to some people who I follow on Twitter.

Mariann: What did you first write about?

Clyde: My first actual story was a very brief fiction piece about a young kid trapped in the future, I wrote this back when I was in third grade. I also wrote some fan fiction as a teenager, but usually wrote about sports on message boards a lot.

Mariann: What is your real life schedule and how do you fit your writing in it?

Clyde: My schedule varies between looking for employment and going out for walks at times. I do fit in writing when the right topic pops up.

Mariann: What do you like most about writing?

Clyde: I like that I'm sharing my knowledge in my writing. I also like that I get to deliver important messages and lessons in my writing. When it comes to fiction pieces, it's my imagination at work, so that's a huge plus.

Mariann: What’s your main goal in your writing?

Clyde: My goal is to get my knowledge out there, get a message across, or even tickle some funny bones. When it comes to fiction pieces, I'm hoping for some approval. I was never confident in my fiction writing. Vocal definitely helped, as some of my pieces have been liked a lot. That really puts a smile on my face.

Mariann: What’s the best word to describe you?

Clyde: I think the best word for me is passionate. It shows in my sports stories--especially about hockey. I am very passionate about pretty much everything I write.

Mariann: It shows in your stories that you are passionate. 😊What does your writing space look like?

Clyde: My bedroom is where I do all of my writing, thinking, and tinkering. No matter what the subject, I ponder what to write and the exact words to use.

Mariann: How long does it take you to write a story?

Clyde: I've never timed myself. When it comes to the sports stories and the Villainess Reviews, it takes me about 10 minutes. As for the fiction stories, it depends. I've often have to pause and save drafts some times, but there are a few I’ve written quickly.

Mariann: What’s your favorite Topic to write about and Why?

Clyde: As you know, I'm a sports fan, and I do enjoy writing the "What Went Wrong" stories about teams who get eliminated during the playoffs. However, I really love the Villainess Reviews I write. The reason why I focus on female villains is because even now, women aren't really cast as baddies a lot. It's increased a lot over the decades, but even so, we don't really see women as big bads, and I've been fascinated with villainesses since I was eight years old.

Mariann: What’s your favorite story you wrote on Vocal?

Clyde: Favorite story is an easy one: my story about Game Six of the 2022 Stanley Cup Final (one of the Top Stories). I am a die hard Colorado Avalanche fan, and this was my second year writing game recaps of the Cup Final. I never thought I'd get the chance to actually write about a team I cheered for actually winning a championship, and I was absolutely over the moon when the Avs won the Cup for the first time in 21 years.

Mariann: Who are your favorite Vocal writers?

Clyde: I do love your stories, as well as Heather Hubler, Call Me Les, and Cathy Holmes, but my favorite is the person who basically inspired me to join Vocal: Trevor Wells. He writes a lot of reviews, especially on Lifetime films, and I'm a big fan of Lifetime films--they are inspirations for my fiction stories.

Mariann: What’s your favorite Facebook Vocal group ?

Clyde: My favorite Vocal FB group is The Medium Writers and Vocal ?Creators Support Group, because I get support from others, and I support them back.

Thank you, Clyde E. Dawkins for allowing me to interview you, today.

I hope you enjoyed this Interview Blog . 😊
