China’s Faith Factory for All Religions
If Faith Had A Factory, It’d Be This Place. Under one roof for every faith. See our sourcing stories

The little angel you bought in the Vatican might actually come from a small Chinese town called Yiwu.
Known as the world’s largest wholesale hub, Yiwu presents a unique phenomenon: a place where the faiths of the world sit side-by-side in the same aisle. As the world's leading small commodity distribution center, Yiwu has a rich history and plays a crucial role in global trade. Here, the sacred meets the industrial.
Delicate Christian angels, wooden crosses, and Virgin Mary statues are displayed just steps away from Tibetan Buddhist malas, spinning prayer wheels, and aromatic temple incense.
While sourcing religious products for our clients, we often see monks and Muslim traders picking their stock in person. Let’s take a look at some of these products.
You may already know that China prints more Bibles than any other country in the world. But at Yiwu’s market, the Christian product range goes far beyond that. There are polyresin statues, plaster figurines, wooden and metal crosses, rosaries, prayer notebooks, and holy water bottles in plastic, glass, and embossed finishes. Shelves are filled with the Holy Family, the Three Wise Men, Jesus, the Virgin Mary, candlesticks, framed wall art, ceramic decorations, jewelry, and devotional gifts. Almost all of these products are made for export, serving churches, religious stores, souvenir shops, and online sellers worldwide.

All of this is made possible thanks to Yiwu’s highly concentrated product categories and integrated wholesale supply chains.

Walking further, you will find stalls dedicated entirely to wholesale Islamic products. The variety is impressive and increasingly tech-driven. You can find smart Quran speakers, projection lamps shaped like the moon, mosques, or the Kaaba, and multifunctional devices that play full Quran recitations, translations, and Hadiths through remote control or mobile apps. Some models even integrate Bakhoor incense spray features.
There are also smart prayer mats, digital Azan clocks, and projector Quran speakers that display stars or Islamic geometric patterns while playing verses.

Clothing and festival items are also well stocked. You can find headscarves, tablecloths, holiday decorations, and even shops that specialize in buttons and fasteners for long robes.

In District 1, we often see Buddhist monks walking through the aisles, carefully selecting ritual items based on material, craftsmanship, and ceremonial purpose. The assortment includes Buddha statues such as Guanyin and other figures, singing bowls, alms bowls, offering trays, malas, prayer beads, hanging ornaments, and temple incense. Many of these products are supplied directly to temples, while others have become best-sellers in D2C niche e-commerce stores targeting spiritual and meditation audiences.

Tibetan Buddhist-style items are also widely available, including decorative knots, prayer wheels, Thangka-inspired wall hangings, and handcrafted ornaments. These products are particularly popular in Southeast Asian markets and among Tibetan vendors abroad. Some stalls display dozens of Buddha statues in various sizes and finishes, with ritual instruments neatly arranged beside them.

Incense is another major category. Beyond traditional temple incense sticks, suppliers offer individually packaged incense tablets with fireproof pads, compact short sticks for home use, and long ceremonial sticks. The packaging is designed for retail shelves and online sales, making them suitable for gift shops and specialty stores.

You can also find other traditional faith items, including Turkish “evil eye” charms in many forms, like fridge magnets, hanging ornaments, tabletop decorations, and jewelry. Many of these are the same as the ones sold in local shops in Turkey.

If faith had a factory, it might look something like this. Global demand for faith-related products quietly converges here. Different traditions, different aesthetics, different rituals are all connected through supply chains that start here and reach every corner of the world. Here, the spiritual and material worlds intertwine and both thrive together.
