I didn't ask to be here! I'm expected to get up every day and well... live.

Living means working hard to get an education, working hard to get a job and supporting a family. We work so many hours in a week that the free time we get is mostly sleeping and the other little time we have to relax barely exists. No-one was asked if they wanted to be born, yet we are born and expected to just live.

No, we can give consent to be born, but are some parents just selfish?

If we are born into poverty, chances are we will stay in poverty into adulthood. We see children around the world starving and having no decent homes to live in. Why do children exist? Why are we procreating in such situations? Families in need sometimes go through tough situations and life changes rapidly. Sometimes these situations can be avoided. But if you're in this situation and needing things such as food banks to feed yourself and your children, I ask, why do you have a bump on your belly? They didn't ask for this, they didn't ask to be here.

Is it selfish that you want to be a parent so badly you'll have a child or more just to experience being a parent? Even though there is no means to support the child, is that an unreasonable question? They didn't ask to be here.

You can be born into a family with money and have the chance to have the best life ever, or you could be born into money and then one day, when you're an adult, it all comes crashing down around you, but, your parents gave you a chance, a stepping stone to success. But, they didn't ask to be here.

Children born into poverty can become some of the most successful people in the world because they understand poverty and work even harder than most to get themselves to the top of the ladder. But is it fair that they HAVE to work harder than most? They didn't ask to be here.

You don't need to own a big house and have loads of cars to have children, but in such severe circumstances, is it really OK to keep procreating? We live in a world where we see stories that a teen has been involved in gang-related crimes, selling drugs to get some money. These are choices that people make, they probably know better, but is it fair? Are these crimes happening because it's the only way for some families to eat? If these teens were born into a family that was ready to support them through childhood, would these same children be involved in these crimes? They didn't ask to be here.

Are we selfish or is it just life? Is it fair? Or just the way of life?

We cannot give consent to be born, but we are expected to just live.

I once read a news article about a woman from the USA who had sued her parents because she was born without consent. Although this does seem like an extreme thing to do, is it fair? Can we blame our parents for the way our life turned out? Our parents love us, feed us, treat us right and wrong, and at the age of around 18 for most, it's time to continue your journey by yourself. Yes, some people are lucky enough to have continued support from their parents for the rest of their lives, but it isn't the case for everyone. OK, my life has turned out pretty well, lots of hard work has made me have a better life, but as I didn't stood there earlier in the kitchen stressing about the most simple things ever, I thought to myself, god i didn't ask to be here!
