“I have failed over and over and that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
Welcome Back to another Motivational Monday.
This week's anthem is Keep Your Head Up by Andy Grammar. This song is one of those anthems that reminds us to keep moving forward, no matter how heavy life feels.
Only rainbows after rain, the sun will always come again
What a powerful reminder that storms don’t last forever.
This is the third post in the series and this week we are focusing on self-discovery. The song ties into this theme beautifully because discovering who you are is often about walking through storms and realizing that you’re still standing at the end of them. Self discovery isn't just some phrase that people throw around. It's a life long process. It's choosing, every day to wake up and be committed to you, your goals and your time.
So often, we go through life on autopilot. The mundane parts of life such as: working, running errands, juggling the family's schedule, and checking off boxes off a never ending to do list. It can be too much at times, but in that busy rhythm, it’s easy to lose touch with who we are at the core. We survive the day, but don’t always feel like we lived it. Somewhere in the rhythm of the day-to-day-routine, we forget to find the time for our passions, for ourselves- the things that make us truly happy.
That’s where self-discovery comes in. It’s like hitting pause in the middle of the chaos to remind yourself: I am not only what I do. I am who I am becoming in the process.
Self-discovery pulls us back to our selves. It reminds us that we are not just what we do, but who we are becoming in the process. Take me for example: I am becoming a self-proclaimed badass woman, with more faith than fear. And I love that for my younger self. She would think I am the coolest person ever.
Because self-discovery isn’t a finish line. There’s no point where you can say "I’ve arrived, I’m done, I know everything about myself now.” Instead, it’s a lifelong adventure. Some days it’s messy. Some days it’s beautiful. It’s not about perfection. It’s the most beautiful lifelong adventure you’ll ever be on. And I take comfort in knowing that I am never done truly discovering who I am.
Because when you embrace self-discovery, you’re not just surviving the life you're in: you’re truly living it.
