A New Way of Writing but Phenetic

English re-written

How "English" should be

As the English language is now, it is one of the most difficult languages to learn in the world, yet is a dominant language in political negotiations and the economy. Native speakers, such as I, struggle our selves to spell in English. But why is this?

When children are thought the English written language they are told the "rules" of the language such as; letter combinations (like ch, sh and tion), exceptions, and silent letters that are utterly unnecessary. In the following writing I will be explaining a new way of writing the spoken language without adding any new letters to the English alphabet.

Children are thought that vowels make 2 sounds but what if they only made 1 sound, like every other letter?

Let us start on the letter A.

A makes 2 sounds. The soft sound it makes in the word "at" and the hard sound it makes in the word "age". But what if I told you every hard vowel sound could be made by letters that already exist?

If you combine the soft letter e which is the sound it makes in the word "end" and the sound y makes (such as in the word "okay") they combine to make the hard A sound (such as in the word "age")

soft e + y = Hard A

Do you hear it?

Next let us discus letter E.

E makes 2 sounds. The soft sound it makes in the word "end" and the hard sound it makes in the word "eat".

If you combine the soft letter I which is the sound it makes in the word "it" and the sound y makes (such as in the word "okay") they combine to make the hard E sound (such as in the word "eat")

Soft i + y = Hard E

Do you hear it?

Now Lets move to letter I.

I makes 2 sounds. The soft sound it makes in the word "it" and the hard sound it makes in the word "I" when we refer to our selves.

If we combine the soft letter o which is the sound it makes in they word "on" and the sound y makes (such as in the word "okay") they combine to make the hard I sound (such as in the word "I")

Soft o + y = Hard I

Do you hear it?

Now lets move to the letter O.

O makes 2 sounds. The soft sound it makes in the word "on" and the hard sound it makes in the word "okay".

If we combine the soft u sound which is the sound it makes in the word "us" and the sound w makes (such as in the word "word") they combine to make the hard O sound (such as in the word "okay")

Soft u + w = Hard O

Do you hear it?

Finally let us move on to the letter U.

U makes 2 sounds. The soft u sound it makes in the word "us" and the hard sound it makes in the word "use".

If we combine the y sound (such as in the word "okay"), the soft i sound which is the sound it makes in the word "it" and the w sound (such as in the word "word") they combine to make the hard U sound (such as in the word "use")

y + Soft i + w = Hard U

Do you hear it?

This way all the letters including vowels would make only a single sound.

Now onto job stealing letters.

Job stealing letters are letters such as C, Q and X.

Turditionally English C has 2 sounds. The soft c sound it makes in the word "center" and the hard sound it makes in the word "call".

You probably already know that the soft c sound, sounds like the letter s (such as in the word "sell") and the hard C sound, sounds like the letter k (such as in the word "key"). By this logic it would be possible to throw the letter c out completely but then how would we make the ch sound (such as in the word "chin")? In Italian the letter C makes a che or a chi sound such as in the word "cello" so C could be used to make the ch sound by its self. (chin would be spelled cin).

The letter X makes the sound "ks" (like in the word "fox" and "skunks") so we could throw the letter x out completely but why not use it for another job, "sh". In Mandarin the letter can X makes the sound "sh" so since words with x in them can be replaced with ks all words with the "sh" sound would use x instead ("shun" spell it xun).

The letter Q makes a sound that can be made using other letters. The sound Q makes in the word "queen" sounds like "kw" so all words with q should use kw instead. So we could throw the letter Q out completely but why not use it for another job, "th". In the word "the" if you read each letter individually, t makes the sound in the word "take" and h makes the sound in the word "hat". Put t and h next to each other and tell me if it sounds like the sound in the word "the".

To summarize:

Hard A --> ey

Hard E --> iy

Hard I --> oy

Hard O --> uw

Hard U --> yiw

ou (in the word "you") --> iw

c --> k or s

ch --> c

x --> ks

sh --> x

q --> kw

th --> q
