Little things I do to save money

Apps I use to help me save money.

By Fern CatterickPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

Hello all!

Welcome to my first post!

I have been umming and ahing about what my first post should be and then I thought, everyone could use tips to have save and make money! Especially in lockdown 2.0!

Now I am sure there are other apps and tools that I can use out there but this is about the ones I have experience and enjoyment using. Also none of this post is paid for, I just wanted to share my little helpers!

First on the list is the app ZIPZERO.

You can use this app to take photos of your purchase receipts, making sure to include the date, amount and receipt number, and you earn money!

The amount you earn can vary depending on the amount you spent, meaning the larger the receipt, the more money you make!

I should mention that this app has recently lost an investor so the time it takes for the money to clear but it’s free money so it’s worth the time investment!

Second is Shoppix!

I love this app because it lets you add receipts, email receipts, answer surveys and use scratch cards! All of which earn you points and add up very quickly!

Now with this app, the amount on the receipts doesn’t matter. You get 25 points for scanning a receipt or forwarding an email receipt using your own unique email and sometimes if you’re fast enough, you get additional points for speed!

It will ask you to fill out surveys about your shopping experiences which earns you more points and scratch cards!

Once you have built enough points, you can withdraw the amounts through PayPal or giftcards!

Number three, Airtime Rewards!

This is another app that earns you money for your purchases but it does it a little differently to the previous two.

You connect your bank card(s) to the app and it records your spending.

If you’ve spent at a qualifying shop, you earn money! Each amount varies based on the percentage linked to the shop.

Redeeming the money earned is different too. You can only allocate the amount earned against your phone bill. So if you made £10, then you can reduce your phone bill by £10.

The fourth might not be the same for all banks but this is about the Halifax app!

When you log into the app and scroll down to the bottom, it shows you cash back options that you can activate for various shops

Once you have activated the cash back, you just need to spend in that shop and the bank will record it automatically! The bank will also deposit the cash back amount into your bank account automatically!

App number 5! Sell on Etsy!

Now this requires a lot more work but if you’re a creative fellow and enjoy drawing or crafting, there’s no harm in adding it to Etsy! Someone might pay happily for it!

Final app! Plum!

This app helps you save in so many ways! You can set it up to look at your purchases, round them up and save the difference!

The amount it calculates, it will take out of your account and put into a savings account that you can access on the app and take out at any time.

You can also set it up to take an amount out weekly or monthly and even ask it to invest your savings so you can earn even more money! All you need is your national insurance number.

I hope this helps! I will be looking into other money saving apps but for now, these are a fantastic way to pocket a little money!
