A Poem

By Atomic HistorianPublished about 6 hours ago 1 min read

I was in love with an idea once

A fantasy

But then reality came crashing down around me

Swallowing me in its waves

Disillusionment

Bobbing in and out of conscious thought

A fraught future

A dangling hope

How did we get here?

Where did we go?

We lost ourselves in the mountains of monotony

I see it in you

You see it in me

We are surrounded on all sides

As the sands of time eat our lives

Just surviving from one day to the next

Until the scorpion is at our neck

Unwilling to fix anything

Until it has broke

We choke on our inequity

As we flee from who we’re meant to be
