I wrote you roses, petals soft and light

I crafted verses full of faith and bliss

We danced, embraced, we reveled in delight

I handed you my heart and soul... for this?

I thought you'd earned a place beside my throne

I thought our love would conquer any day

Now that I understand your heart is stone

I place the blame on my naiveté

I'm upside-down outside your arms, I'm lost

I've climbed the bridge, I'm sprinting towards my grave

I'm staring down what loving you has cost

and seeing little left of me to save

Strange. As my destruction nearly completes,

I somehow learn a broken heart still beats.
