Alone

First frost

silence

bathes me like pure silken milk

spaces become shades of pale grayish fawn

alone - thoughts drifting skyward

pleasurable quietude

the untamed void - resounds

but the winds feel a shift in time

it stills

enchanting peace interrupted

i hear no voices - no sound

yet. i too, sense an eerie calm

flowing seeping changing

a river of new beginnings

a chill introducing itself

upon my contemplation

shivering, i embrace bare arms

frost crackle dry leaves underfoot

invisible forces beset the thirsty grass

blades stand like sentinels to attention

shoulders stiffening erect

First frost approaches, sings the birds

flying by overhead

the cold begins to bite - its time to go

the trees wave goodbye

hurrying me home to warmth

I really like this one for it makes me homesick for the North and the winter chill. Great work.
