As I Saw Robin Birds

In my neighborhood, it was serendipity

After Sunday lunch,

I went out for a solo walk

in my leafy neighborhood.

It is almost spring at our place,

I knew there would be birds,

but what I saw felt like serendipity.

A large flock of American robins,

grey wings, brick orange bellies —

resting on almost every tree:

bottlebrush, palo verde,

oak and bay laurel.

They had come

to feed on the seasonal fruits,

and after feeding, they lingered —

being playful, taking to the sky,

offering marvelous spectacles.

It was my delight to see the birds,

for not every day,

you get to witness

a grand gathering of robins.

What a sight you had. I have seen a few Robins over here in Louisiana as well. We did have that Winter storm Fern with very cold and ice weather, but now it's warm again and approaching the seventies. At least I had one month of real Winter weather.
