Because Unworthiness Embodies Me
A Short Poem About Self Perception
Because unworthiness embodies me,
I'll share the blame for us.
I'll pen the narrative
For the story we’ll spin
Like angels for your sin.
Because unworthiness embodies me,
I’ll achingly look past your abuse.
I'll painstakingly build your excuse
With the escape routes I’ve created
Just to say, “baby, we’ve made it.”
Because unworthiness embodies me,
I’ll constantly allow it
Yet silently cry about it
Then let the pattern repeat
With my needs in the back seat.
Because unworthiness embodies me,
I'll make the minimum momentous
and the bread crumbs tremendous
So they can be convinced
that you've been good since.
Because unworthiness embodies you,
You'll keep on encouraging it.
You’ll tell me why I’m deserving it.
You–The creator of this deception,
because you are utterly my flawed perception–
You are unworthy.
