Cold-water

walking

ankle

deep

in

the

tide

through

white

foam

towards

the

sun

the

brightest

star

like

those

kings

to

the

manger

where

the

baby

was

born

to

the

virgin

mother

my

mother

now

in

heaven

but

here

too

Deja vu

my

early

days

seaside

on

another

beach

with

the

same

name

but

in

a

different

state

but

the

same

ocean

the

same

sand

my

hands

now

like

my

Mother’s

then

waving

to

me

as

I

climbed

the

rocky

cliffsides

to

starfish

sea-anemone

tide

pools

my

green

eyes

like

my

Grandpa’s

then

watching

the

orange-

pink

sunsets

until

the

sky's'

ribbons

of

light

dissipate

to

a

warm

night

of

soft

black

with

golden

stars
