Daisy Dukes
By: Karlton A. Armistad
[Dedicated to one of the most lovable dogs I know, Caroline’s Daisy]
1.
Golden turbulent tossing tail telling its own tales of woes as it grows that is how you know Daisy is on the move. You know she likes you because when she sees you; her tail goes crazy and she does a little catwalk over and uses the side of her lush sleek coat along her belly to stroke your leg.
2.
I could watch her and the other 2 dogs, Loki & Luna play all day, they know a freedom and a confidence in owning their surroundings almost operating like they set the invisible boundaries by which they express themselves with showmanship success. Daisy went to the Loch one afternoon to learn how to swim and play. She followed me in like trouble follows sin and what a laugh we had that day.
3.
They visited one afternoon, as her & Caroline were feeling the lockdown gloom. Both were soon cheered up, one with cool fresh water and doggy friends, the other with a hot inviting cup of tea and an apricot scone. And though lockdown was hard, we all did our part to keep each other sane and our spirits up. Daisy did a small fashion show, showing off her ‘country girl’ smile & look, the whole room laughed as Luna got mad and decided She wanted in.
4.
Dogs have that unique ability to empathise with human pain, they love and care unconditionally, building you emotionally, and all they ask is that we treat them….the same. I’ll always make time for Daisy, even though she’s a little crazy, and maybe a little LGBTQ, she’ll follow Luna around and try to lick her down, though Luna wants none of that too.
End.
