It’s exhausting to keep cover

On the thoughts inside your head

To hold your lips together

When you’re racist, born and bred

You see that we look different

And view things with different eyes

When you’re focused on your anger

Instead of being wise

Compassion is a healer

A balm to ease your hate

And help you to learn tolerance

Before it is too late

So try to practice kindness

In all you say and do

When you are with your neighbor

Be they black or brown or blue

Don’t focus on our colors

Discrimination can be cruel

But look to find some common ground

And don’t be such a fool
