Blinking Christmas lights on trees
wreathes hung on front doors
stockings on fireplace mantles
children waiting for presents

Airplanes flying in the sky
turkey served with gravy
backseat kids driving Mom crazy
ham served with cranberry jelly

Kids tables and Christmas movies
bad jokes and whole-body laughs
football games and after-dinner naps
best friends and egg nog drinks
~
Construction paper turkeys hung in the hall
Thanksgiving feasts when the leaves fall
Christmas songs when snow makes a call
families gathering when tales are made tall
~
Mistletoe kisses and turkey bowls
Santa letters and I'm thankful for's
Elves on shelves and eating so many pies
my waist grows two sizes, are
~
