Joshua 8:7–9

New International Version

“7 you are to rise up from ambush and take the city. The Lord your God will give it into your hand. 8 When you have taken the city, set it on fire. Do what the Lord has commanded. See to it; you have my orders.”

9 Then Joshua sent them off, and they went to the place of ambush and lay in wait between Bethel and Ai, to the west of Ai – but Joshua spent that night with the people.”

Fire

Can

Destroy

And it can

Beautify

One beast

Two faces

In the hands

Of a jeweler

It can turn

Gold into

Beautiful jewelry

But it can

Also

Destroy

Everything in

It’s path.

The flames

Leaping

Angry

Fast moving

Tell a story

Often more

Melancholy

Than a Greek

Tragedy.

But that same

Fire

Controlled

Taken care of

Can warm us

Up in the

Cold,

Roast marshmallows

To a crispy perfection.

That same

Fire

Can remind

You to pray

When you learn

Of those flames

Being close

To friends homes

It puts things

Into perspective

Reminding you

How quickly

Things can change.

Fire

Can remind

You

That things aren’t

Important

But lives are

Like the life

Lost

And the one

Injured

In that fiery inferno.

While praising God

That your friends

And loved ones

Are okay!

Monday night was a scary and restless night, a night full of prayers, a fire broke out close to my friends house (the same friend who only weeks ago, lost her Mom). But I also have others I know very close to where that fire was, thankfully they are all okay!
