Give Me a New Day

Silence

By Elsa Michaela | @surfthoughtPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Some days

Days like today

Filled with every thought

And heavy with memory

I just want to stand in the cool of my doorway

A tickling of wind

And watch the night

Stand under the sky,

Silver blue

Indigo light

Little stars

Signal, still time

Listen to the sounds of the city

Cars

Sirens

Footsteps

The clink of a lighter

Echo, Fall away

People returning home

A scent wave

Spring

From a neighbouring garden

My kitchen clock

Its restful tick-ticking

And the silence in between

The stresses and strains of the day

Quietly slipping

Gone away

Dissolving

The tide of night

Washing in

Soothing

The clutter of the city,

Swept clean

fresh and unmarked

As the shoreline

Give me a new day.

About the Creator

Elsa Michaela | @surfthought

When you hear a song

One that stops you in your tracks

That seems spoken from your own mind

Do you listen and listen again?

Follow its streams until a tide,

Inside you

Rushes to fill in the small hollow parts

…Yeah, me too
