Good Morning Citizens. Today is Thursday January 29 in the Year of Our Leader seven and forty.

Turn off the snooze, prepare for your morning announcements, and pour some coffee.

Before engaging with your phone

With people unknown,

About grievances overblown,

With their disrespect shown,

Disharmonies sown,

Their lack of entitlements bemoan,

Remember: the illusions of Liberty you've outgrown.

Citizens, prepare your thoughts and open Signal

Enter 3 names, and additional

email addresses for 2 that try to wiggle

their way out of this ritual

and to the Leader are fickle

their Loyalty suspected abysmal

need to be corrected and led to baptismal

forgiveness through examination of their every pixel

until removed from influences dismal

and they again sing from our approved hymnal.

Citizens, press enter and give no more thought

to those that don't think as they ought,

they fight, poor things are distraught,

refuse to believe (overwrought)

must now be carefully taught

their rebellion revealed, they'll be caught

have to learn or they'll end up shot,

fight? well; they'll be the ones fought

all their struggles will just come to naught.

Citizens, now your duties complete

your breakfast please sit and eat.

The names you submitted will soon delete

for Signal is always discrete

opposition we'll soon beat

convince of their errors, kindly entreat

them to recant, arrange to meet

them and from society them excrete.

Citizens; thank you for your attention to this matter.

Well done, Judey! Cryptic and telling. Keep telling it. Loved the way you did this poem.

My souls shattered by the end of this poem. Entirely too real.

  • Well-wrought, Judey! Speaking of 1984, eh? Watched a doc about journalist Sy Hersh last night. In it was footage of U.S. citizens protesting to free the soldier who was convicted of the My Lai Massacre, a coverup which Hersh exposed. "...a boot stamping on a human face--forever." Seems some people want that. I'll never understand the impulse to be ruled.
