If falling in love descents into "just loving"

and "love" changes slowly into friendship

Butterflies in your belly draw in their wings,

start gnawing in your inner sanctum, like caterpillars.

Great happiness is slowly becoming smaller

great happiness is undermined by time

small happiness can always grow

But great happiness you get used to and then disappears

The silly names that you once gave to each other

still sound soft, but have lost strength

The body that you ravished so often

still lying next to you, when did you last touch it?

Love bond? Love cuffs!

The embrace becomes more suffocating, the kiss becomes betrayal

You see others, new, new, new, but that is not allowed

and slowly, almost imperceptible, turn your love into hatred

But great happiness, you get used to and then disappears

So, let's just start to love all the little things we have

and so easily take for granted, like health, family and friends,

Because they are really not that little after all.

We tend to only appreciate them when they've left us.

Together with the air we breathe, the food we eat, not to forget all the drinks we have,

be it on a sunny terrace, or at a well-served table as we dine with friends.

Let's just enjoy our lust for life and who knows

Maybe all that small happiness will finally transcend.

Remember: small happiness can always grow

But great happiness always comes to an unwanted end.
