I knew you with merely a glance,
Not with words or a fierce romance.
Nor your soft touch calling me near--
Just seeing each other so clear.
You calmed doubts heard in my voice,
made me feel I had the safe choice:
remove my mask, myself be true,
And still be safely loved by you.
You silenced each and every fear,
A song for us alone to hear.
You didn’t rush me or press,
Just gently held me in the mess.
No lines to practice, so rehearsed,
You healed places I hid at first.
No fireworks, simply steady flames--
Quiet soothing, speaking our names.
With each small glance, our soul's reply,
We must have loved in lives gone by.
Not mere lovers, but so much more,
Like echoed feelings from before.
Not merely a spark - fun with thrill,
But something deep, so soft and still.
Anchoring my heart, deeply wise--
with vast galaxies behind your eyes.
Was it love, or a cruel coup?
A sacred bond, or thread askew?
Nonsensical - yet felt so right...
Like you were home in darkest night.
Saddest farewell my love, my dear
We lost in love - my deepest fear.
I would not cage you as my own,
Was I meant to - even if wrong?
You are as wild, as free as I,
so I would not become that tie--
holding you frozen, trapped inside--
the urge so strong to run or hide.
Here, you will be always welcome!
Whether we meet out, or at home--
I pray to never cause you harm--
only wish you lifetimes of charm!

Beautiful work!
Ah, to let someone go is hard...but if it is for their own good, then it is the right thing to do. Such a beautiful poem!
Lovely work! Thank you so much for sharing it on the link! Clever rhymes throughout, and I loved this one: -You silenced each and every fear, A song for us alone to hear.-
This is so beautiful 🌹🌹🌹
