Hell is a state of being

a world that wants to die

damned to horrid lingering.

Hell is what becomes

of the tears, we left to dry

on the pages of our lives

we've now reduced to kindling.

Hell is not the fire

Hell is the fuel

The comedown from desire

that makes of us a fool.

The little parts of us expired

chasing a high we could not rule.

Hell is not the fire

but the fire burns the same

Hell is not the fire

no that goes by another name

Hell is not the fire

Hell is all the things we might have been

all the things we wished we’d seen.

All the lies we left aglow in the light

of a blinking screen.

Hell is what you lose

in the heat of your rage

when the inferno's heat reduces

you to all that hides within your hate!

When humanity becomes hindrance,

and the hindrance becomes a dream,

when reality becomes a prison

and you have no mouth with which to scream!

Hell is a state of being

a world that wants to die,

a promise now forsaken.

Hell is what becomes

of the child inside

the eyes

of a world beyond saving.
