i walk alone

blurred vision

By Rebekah BTPublished about 4 hours ago 1 min read

Her eyes shed tears, releasing the pain.

She sobs 'til her head hurts, and the pain remains.

She looks at herself in the mirror, and she sees a stranger.

She let love take over, and it engulfed her.

Desperate to feel seen or heard, she feels absurd.

She dims her light to shine on their faces,

Leaving her to simmer in her dark places.

Every time she starts over, she blindly lies to herself again.

Her inner child is screaming for her not to pretend,

Maybe this time she will have the strength to defend,

As every little want and need of hers transcends.

Searching for the next one that will bleed her dry,

As they carelessly watch her smile turn into a cry.

Once again, realizing she's not where she wanted to be

Left to walk alone in her thoughts and blurred vision.
