It's a terrible thing to be cold

Coldhearted

Cold mannered

I didn't smile at you when our eyes chanced to meet

I didn't speak the kind word that could have broken the ice lying between us

No, it isn't anything you did

And I don't believe I am fully to blame either

The waters were already frozen when we each reached the river

You never said hello to me

You never took a step to cross to my side of the room

I'm not mad at you for that

Maybe we will live on without speaking to each other and I can be content with that

But it is in my nature to sit and ponder these thoughts as I do now

And think again what a terrible thing it is to be cold

sad poetry

Very descriptive of a (maybe) missed opportunity - really well expressed!

  • I know it's not really a good thing being cold but I feel like it's a defense mechanism. Loved your poem!
