In The Shattered Moment
Take time, even when everything is breaking
Slow down
Slow down
Appreciate the glass
Shattering in your hand
Reflect on tiny molecules
Grasping across inexorable chasms
Desperate to be what was
Be kind
When you tell them to let go
Find beauty in the breaking
Which no amount of gold can fix
Be grateful
For jagged edges
Writing tales of rage
And sadness
Between the lines of heart and fate
Time heals all wounds
Leaving plenty of scars behind
Pale reminders
Of the pieces you swept away

Be grateful For jagged edges ♥
Oof—this one hits deep in the quietest way! That line “Find beauty in the breaking” deserves its own tattoo. Or maybe a stained glass window. Loved it! ✨
-Pale reminders Of the pieces you swept away- Yes! Exactly!!! Nicely done!
Beautiful!! I especially liked this. because rarely do we think to be grateful for those jagged edges: Be grateful For jagged edges Writing tales of rage And sadness Between the lines of heart and fate Time heals all wounds Leaving plenty of scars behind Pale reminders
What a stunning opening! We’re always in such a rush to “get through” or “get over” things, but as you said “there is beauty in the breaking”. Lovely poem, Shaun!
You can't appreciate the smooth without the rough.
Pale reminders indeed!
