It Matters Not

A Poem of Regret

“I love you”

And

“I’m sorry”

Those were not things

I said often

And they should have been

But that which

Rarely escaped my lips

Now weighs heavy

In my heart

For you are gone

And I find myself

Wanting to scream those words

From the depths of my soul

What I should have said then

I would give anything

To say to you today

But now

It makes no difference

If I say it or not
