Lavender Fields

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished about an hour ago 2 min read

Verse 1

Dancing in the fields of fragrant lavender

So close to the garden by the sea

You call to me, my beloved

As you spin, spin, and spin

Dancing in the joy of me

The joy of us

My heart swells, beating harder

With a love too big to hold

Your country dress rings like a bell

Swirling soft around your legs

As you twirl and laugh and glow

Chorus

Come to me, my love

With honey on your lips

Shiny, sweet, irresistible

I could never turn away

Fall into my arms

Where it’s right and wrong at once

Where fate is watching, trembling

But this love will never stop

Verse 2

You touch your lips with honey

Knowing I won’t resist

Wanting me to take you in

To claim you with my love

I pull you down so gently

And you fall into my arms

Soft as a prayer, warm as summer

And everything feels right

Though danger circles quietly

And fear should hold us back

All I feel is you

Breathing in my hands

Chorus

Come to me, my love

With honey on your lips

Shiny, sweet, irresistible

I could never turn away

Fall into my arms

Where it’s right and wrong at once

Where fate is watching, trembling

But this love will never stop

Bridge

We tempt the stars, defy the rules

Sneering at the world’s demands

We should not be here, should not love

But we won’t stop

We can’t stop

This love refuses chains

It rises, ancient, burning

Older than our names

Verse 3

You lie beside me reading poems

And I sing you quiet songs

We get lost in rapture’s fire

In the holy pull of skin and soul

Spirit, bones, and mortal flesh

Aching to become one

We are becoming One together

As we have for centuries

My one true love

Loving as One

Becoming sacred through mortal sin

Wrapped in warmth and wonder

Covered in a blanket

Soft as grace itself

Final Chorus

Come to me, my love

With honey on your lips

Shiny, sweet, irresistible

I could never turn away

Fall into my arms

Where it’s right and wrong at once

Where fate is watching, trembling

But this love will never stop

No, this love will never stop

We belong together

We always have

We always will
