Leave me Alone, Just Leave me Alone

A salute to Ruby Red Dress

By Cheryl E PrestonPublished 3 months ago Updated about 21 hours ago 1 min read

A hard-grieving widow

Is not lonely for new love

She is missing her husband

Who is in heaven above

She's not on the make

So keep far away

I've tried to be polite

But now it's time to say

What Helen Reddy sang best

Remember what she said

in the hit Ruby Red Dress

Leave me alone, won't you leave me alone,

That's the message for you

Please leave me alone, just leave me alone

Am I getting through?

I mourn the man who gave me love

I don't need another in my bed

He's the only one I'm thinking of

Can't you get this through your head?

I'm not looking for companionship or sex

I desire the time to grieve my loss

Please listen to Helen Reddy

And allow me to bear my cross

I'm ok without a man

I want to be on my own

Find yourself another woman

Please just leave me alone

Don't sit next to me in church

Leave me alone, just leave me, leave me

Don't send messages or Facebook pokes

I want to live romance-free

I'm not the merry widow

Find someone else to be your own

My answer to you is no

So, please won't you leave me alone!
